Obama can not shake Ayers off his leg that easily. As pointed out in Ace’s column, to not know that this guy has a violent criminal past is ludicrous.  It is just one of the may questions surrounding Ayers and his relationship to Obama.

The NY Post quoted John Murtagh (son of one of Ayer’s terrrorist attacks) stating that he believes that the relationship with Ayers began 30 years ago via Michelle who worked at the same firm Ayer’s wife did.

Murtagh doesn’t blame Obama for what Ayers and his friends did. He blames Obama for picking a man like Ayers as a friend and mentor – and then covering up the friendship.

In politics, things get complicated. Truth becomes hard to find. But not this.

“The night they attacked our home, they also firebombed an army recruiting station out in Brooklyn and police patrol cars outside of Greenwich Village,” notes Murtagh. “Three weeks later, they accidentally blew themselves up. They intended to attack the officer’s club at Fort Dix.”

Lay your cards on the table, says Murtagh. “Obama’s free to associate with Dohrn and Ayers; that’s his right,” he tells me. “But don’t hide the relationship, and be forthcoming and let people decide the significance of it for themselves.”

Mainstream folks that I know do not pal around with unrepentant terrorists.  Now Obama Camp is parading him as a school reformer.

Ha!  If that is the case and Obama admits to the long relationship he has had with the “school reformer” we must as is this the type of Department of Education we could expect under an Obama adminstration.

If people think No Child Left Behind is dirty toilet water, then just wait for a “social justice” emphasis in education.  Now that is change that you will see.  Is it the change you want???

Perhaps a better way of structuring the first point would be to relate it to Obama’s insistence that he has better judgment than John McCain to lead the nation.  Can anyone believe that a man who worked with an unrepentant domestic terrorist for years and considered him “mainstream” has the judgment necessary for the Presidency?

Expect Sarah Palin to continue to lead the charge on this topic.  She has effectively used the media scrutiny surrounding her to get national media coverage on Ayers, with surprising results.  So far, the Obama campaign simply has not effectively rebutted it, and in fact has made the damage worse.

His three salient points about Ayers:

  • Obama stresses his commonality with the American people.  Do most people feel comfortable working closely with unrepentant domestic terrorists who still want to overthrow the capitalist system in America?
  • Obama presses educational issues as part of his campaign.  He spent years working with Ayers on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which pushed efforts to create primary educational organizations that would create political activists for the Left – and which largely failed in any of its intended purposes.
  • Obama has lied and obfuscated about his relationship with Ayers.  Clearly, Ayers was NOT just “some guy in the neighborhood”, but a political adviser at least on educational issues who provided a key launch for Obama’s political career.
