so say parents of the young girl that she berated on video. From the beginning. The student, Cathy Thompson, and her parents don’t want to see Diantha Harris punished. Why?
Because that’s how the teacher always behaves!
But the parents of that student, and the student herself, said Friday that teacher Diantha Harris did nothing wrong.
“She is usually messing around,” said Cathy Thompson, who was in Harris’ fifth-grade class in May when a Swedish film crew visited for a documentary on American politics. “When she said that, I knew she was messing around.”
Wow!!! I have seen many battles with teachers and students in my lifetime, but if this is acceptable behavior we do need to reasses the education model in America.
Whatever happen to reading, writing and arithmetic? You remember, the three Rs? It’s is time to revisit back to basics in education.
…this WRAL video of Harris and Cathy appearing on TV together. Harris plays the victim card to full tilt.
She apologizes for the “Your daddy could be in Iraq for 100 years” remark, but insists she did not inject her personal politics into the classroom.

No wonder our schools are so screwed up. How could any parent side with a teacher like that? I also wonder how this teacher handles bullies in the classroom and on the playground.

Believe me, I have had enough run ins with teachers to know that teachers do what they can get away with. Professionalism is dead.

When Obama is officially installed in the White House, he will probably make this woman Teacher of the Year. I’m also sure the next set of textbooks issued at all levels of our educational system will include, at a minimum, a chapter on the greatness of Obama. Deleted to make room for him will probably be information about the blacks who really did make a difference. And we get to help make it happen with our ever-increasing property taxes–what a deal!
You are right–professionalism is dead and the indoctrination of children begins.

wac…he said that he wanted to promote teachers who were good and hire new teachers to replace the bad ones. Sounds to me like she probably will become “teacher of the year.” God help us all.
This is unprofessional behavior.
