UPDATE Obama met with Gov B on November 5, 2008 to discuss Senate seat.

Connect Tristates also reported that Obama was meeting Governor Blagojevich on Wednesday November 5, 2008 to discuss his senate seat:

Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled.

That’s one of Obama’s first priorities today.

He’s meeting with Governor Rod Blagojevich this afternoon in Chicago to discuss it.

Here’s more on that meeting with Obama from the governor’s website on November 5, 2008, where the two discussed Obama’s senate seat:

From the governor’s press release:
Governor Blagojevich Congratulates President-elect Obama and Discusses U.S. Senate Seat To fill President-Elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat, Governor will use deliberate process to select suitable replacementLater in the day on November 5, 20008, Blagojevich held a news conference to talk about Barack Obama’s replacement in the US Senate.

For once, a newspaper that had every reason to blow Fitz’s investigation as it unfolded from Chicago.

As HotAir said this morning about Blagogate’ and the investigation…

One cheer for the Chicago Tribune

We certainly haven’t seen that from the New York Times, for instance, which took delight in exposing a series of secret counterterrorist operations over the last few years, rendering them all but useless.  Withholding this information certainly kept Blagojevich from feeling concerned about his telephone conversations, as the transcriptions proved.

I say three cheers and a fist bump.  Oh Axelrod you did tell the truth.  Well, see ya under the bus not that this information was already out there.  Look here…one of Team O is asking for Gov. Blagojevich’s resignation. Did not take long, did it?  SNARK.

Lots and lots of people are coming to the conclusion that Jesse Jackson Jr. is the fellow referred to as Senate Candidate 5 in the Complaint against Rod Blagojevich. For example, the Washington Post almost comes out and says it without qualification. So does TPM Muckraker. Gawker says it’s state legislator Emil Jones.

If it is JJJr — and I think it is — it’s going to be very, very bad. From Paragraph 115 a:

ABC NEWS seems to think it is JJJr as well.

In a recorded conversation on October 31, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH described an earlier approach by an associate of Senate Candidate Five as follows: “We were approached ‘pay to play.’ That, you know, he’d raise me 500 grand. An emissary came. Then the other guy would raise a million, if I made him (Senate Candidate 5) a Senator.”

Could Emil Jones get that kind of money? I know that JJJr could.
