So, correct me if I am wrong. You are given a second op at life. Perhaps you got bumped and scraped a bit. No biggy.
You did NOT see your life pass before you and you actually had time to leave a text message or call someone before you thought you would exit this earth.
US Airways gave you the best crew they had to land a plane in the middle of the Hudson River, no one dies. They give you $5000.00 (per traveler) and you, Mr. Joe Hart file a lawsuit. Joe Hart is NOT the only passenger seeking $$$$.
Granted, you may have lost your cell phone, camera, laptop, clothes, but YOU got to keep your life.
Let’s see, you came out of this body intact, perhaps a bloody nose and a few bruises.
Joe Hart, a salesman from Charlotte who suffered a bloody nose and bruises, says he “would like to be made whole for the incident.”
Emotional distress? You have your life. What say you have a chat with someone who is terminal to get some perspective?

The idea that Joe Hart is suing is sickening. The fact that Mr. Sullivan calmly and quickly took action so that not one life was lost on the plane and on the ground is truly amazing. Mr. Hart would “like to be made whole after this incident”. How does money accomplish this? US Airways and Mr. Sullivan should be applauded, not sued.

You nailed it. The idea that anyone should be involved in a lawsuit is ridiculous. The airline stated that they would give them some money up front however, they never said that would be the end of the stop loss. I do hope these people all hear the calm that took place in the cockpit. It is truly sobering.

Hey, Crazy People, you listening? US Air is not paying that money!!! That is why they have insurance. If you got rear-ended by a UPS truck, and the district manager comes to the wreck and hands you a check for $1000, are you going to take it? Remember, by taking the money, you can never go after UPS. That neck and back that is twinjing, but you don’t know if there is real damage. You have no idea what the damages are to your car, you know just by looking, there is at least $1000 damage to the car, but hey, you are just happy to be walking. Now look at Mr Hart’s point of view. For example, it is not unreasonable for a business traveler to have 3 $1500 suits, a pair of $300 shoes, 4 $150 shirts and a $2000 laptop. I’m no mathmatician, but that is $7400. Why in the world would he take a $5000 check if at a minimum, he has a $7000 loss. Oh yeah, would that $5000 be taxed as income? would that take it down to $3500?
When the Alaska Airlines plane crashed off the coast of Southern California in 2000, all of the LAWSUITS were settled and EACH settlement was for more than $1million (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4176/is_20030704/ai_n14557001). If anything, US Air should give the captain a few $million for the amount they saved the airline and the insurance company. Oh yeah, US Air got out for less than $1million if they did pay it. I guess the new luggage fees and charging for water will pay this in the next 3 days. The plane was also insured.

Oh pleeeeeze. Joe Hart is douche bag.
So insurance will pay for geese hitting the plane and the pilot’s saving Joe Douche Bag Hart’s crybaby life? Who pays for the insurance Brainiac? As far as what Joe Douche Bag Hart lost? Did he read his ticket, AKA the limits of the law about what an airline will replace as per FEDERAL LAW? No? oh well, maybe it would have been better if Joe Douche Bag Hart got to be eaten off the Hudson by seagulls in little tiny whiny bits. Joe is a douche bag.
