Free cars for welfare recipients are not enough!

Pfizer Inc. shall provide Viagra for the unemployed.

Viagra, the little blue pill.

Viagra, the little blue pill.

Never mind that the FDA warns of sudden hearing loss, both with and without accompanying ringing in the ears, vertigo, or dizziness. Most cases involved one ear, with either a partial or complete loss of usual hearing.

Pfizer Inc. is unveiling a new program Thursday that will let people who have lost their jobs and health insurance keep taking some widely prescribed Pfizer medications — including Lipitor and Viagra — for free for up to a year.

The world’s biggest drugmaker will provide more than 70 of its prescription drugs at no cost to unemployed, uninsured Americans, regardless of their prior income, who lost jobs since Jan. 1 and have been on the Pfizer drug for three months or more.

Patients can call a toll-free number, 866-706-2400, to sign up, and those whose drugs are not included in the program will be referred to other company aid programs. Starting July 1, patients can also apply online at http://www.PfizerHelpfulAnswers.com, which has information about the other aid programs.

So, what does Pfizer get out of this nifty giveaway?

Pfizer stands to benefit, too — by keeping its customers, and with a tax write-off that will cover much of the cost of the donations.

Translation:  Tax write off = taxpayer subsidy.

The move also buys the world’s largest drugmaker some good will as Washington looks to overhaul the health care system.

ObamaCare…they are lining up.  You betcha.  Viagra cost?

Brand name viagra costs about $125-$250 for twenty doses, if you buy 100 milligram pills and split them yourself.

For less than $200, you can buy over one hundred doses of generic viagra (sildenafil citrate) online, if you buy 100 milligram pills and split them yourself.

Call me skeptical, but if you are working the free Viagra all day long, why would you want to go look for a job?  And if you lose your hearing, will you sue because you can’t hear?  How will you work if you can’t hear?

The programs have been in place for years.  This is nothing new.  Everyone needs a helping hand to lift the spirits (no pun intended), but free Viagra for an entire year?
