his pink “I love N Y” boxers!

Army Spec. Zachary Boyd, a 2007 graduate of Keller Central High School, was in his sleeping quarters this week when the Taliban attacked in the rugged mountains of eastern Afghanistan. Boyd rushed to a defensive position clad in his helmet, vest and boxers — the pink ones decorated with the “I Love NY” slogan.

Stay safe, you’re the best!

“He feels like he should be doing his part to defend our nation,” she said. “He is a very patriotic and very determined young man who is very sure that we need to do this, not just for us, but the Afghani people as well.”

And yes, he did warn his parents about the picture.

UPDATE:  Pink Boxers vs The Taliban

“Any soldier who goes into battle against the Taliban in pink boxers and flip-flops has a special kind of courage,” Gates said, adding that Boyd may have hit on a new kind of psychological warfare. “I can only wonder about the impact on the Taliban. Just imagine seeing that — a guy in pink boxers and flip-flops has you in his crosshairs.

Take a break and laugh. It will feel good.

in the Julian calendar.  Founding Bloggers, this is NOT  just a little disturbing (see the calendar range).

…who did put the bill together? It looks like the Muslim Association of Hawaii, who actually is the Muslim Student Association:

Muslim Association of Hawaii (MAH), formerly known as The Muslim Student Association (MSA), started more than 30 years ago. via Conservative Mama

More from Creeping Sharia:

Introduced March 4 as HCR100 by Reps Faye Hanohano (D-Puna), Lyla Berg (D-Hawai`i Ka`i), and Della Au Belatti (D-Makiki) HCR100 proposed Islam Day to be “November 21, 2009, marks the anniversary of the founding of Islam….” But that was soon amended to HCR100HD1 which intones, “the Prophet Mohammad left his house to migrate to Madinah and reached Quba in the vicinity of Madinah on the 12th day of Rabi ul-Awwal according to the lunar calendar, or September 24th according to the Gregorian calendar, thereby marking the birth of Islam….” (Emphasis added)

This is false. September 24th is the date of Mohammad’s arrival in Medina according to the old Julian calendar — which is 13 days behind the modern Gregorian calendar. The fact that “Gregorian” is mentioned in the resolution implies that somebody was considering the two calendars.

Had the Hawaii legislature intended to mark the Julian date September 24 they would have picked the Gregorian date October 7, 2009 for Islam Day. Had they wished to mark the date celebrated each year by Muslims, that would have been the “12th day of Rabi ul-Awwal” — March 9, 2009.

But instead they picked the modern Gregorian date September 24, 2009. This day corresponds to no holiday in the Islamic calendar. But on the Julian calendar it is September 11, 2009. Update: Muslim Association of Hawaii (formerly MSA) is aggressively supporting this bill on their website and encouraging people to contact the Hawaiian legislators who approved it and claiming the three who opposed it are anti-Islam and anti-Muslim. You too can contact the Hawaii legislatures and here is a list of email addresses thanks to MAH.

Interesting,

ACORN Board member wants answers.

Current ACORN member, Michael McCray: He was a member of ACORN’s national board like the women I spoke to on Friday on this program. He, like them, was pushed off the board after they all started asking questions.

Where does te $$$ go?

MCCRAY: Well, Dale Rathke is the founder of — I mean, Wade Rathke is the founder of the organization, and he is an incredible organizer. And it was his vision that allowed ACORN to progress to kind of where it is today. Unfortunately, with, you know, absolute power comes some corruption, and the board members found out about eight or nine months ago that there had been $1 million embezzlement by his brother.

Why did the founders resign?  What about that $1 million embezzlement charge?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Not much enthusiasm yet, but definately a move to quell the waters distract.

The House majority leader reluctantly agreed Tuesday that congressional hearings should investigate Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s assertion that she wasn’t informed, more than six years ago, that harsh interrogation methods were used on an al-Qaida leader.Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., called Republican challenges to Pelosi’s assertion a diversion from the real question of whether the Bush administration tortured terrorist suspects.

Half-hearted?   Who is behind moving Nancy out of the picture?  I believe it is Team O.  Steny Hoyer is a major player friend of Rahm Emanuel.   The White House has an enormous amount to gain by replacing her as Speaker of the House with Steny Hoyer.  Being such great pals with Rahm, you can expect that she will gladly hand over the House to the power hungry administration.  So Nan, put a fork in it because you are done!

Some seniors are saying “no” to graduation at Notre Dame. Perhaps the administration could grow a pair someday.

Perhaps the administration will grow a working amount of brain cells someday.  Graduation is a celebration of life’s accomplishments.  It represents a change in life’s paths.

Because of President Obama’s appearance and speech at Notre Dame this Sunday, some seniors will not attend their own graduation ceremony and instead join a University prayer service on the grounds at Notre Dame.

I admire any senior who is willing to own this moment.  Why the Vatican has not slammed this ridiculous decision is beyond me?
