STILL Apologizing for Slavery – by, you guessed it…Washingtonpost.com.
This recent willingness to deal with the nation’s difficult racial history has come about in part because of President Obama’s election, said Rep. Stephen I. Cohen (D-Tenn.), who began pushing for an apology more than a decade ago when he was a state senator and pronounced himself “pleased” with the Senate vote.
Still, Cohen said, “there are going to be African Americans who think that [the apology] isnot reparations, and it’s not action, and there are going to be Caucasians who say, ‘Get over it.’ . . . I look at it as something that makes people think.”
GET OVER IT!! Rome is burning and the fire doesn’t delineate between melanin content arsewipes!
Shall I make a list of all of my perceived ills of the world? When will this country’s politicians let go of the “victim” status and stand strong enough to take care of the current ills?
Who is working in Congress right now, anyone, Ferris, the interns, anyone?

“there are going to be African Americans who think that [the apology] isnot reparations, and it’s not action, and there are going to be Caucasians who say, ‘Get over it.’ . . . I look at it as something that makes people think.”
Sure, its going to make people think about being even more adversarial and divided than we have been in more than 40 years.
I personally believe it is a springboard to incite further division among ethnic groups. a la Reverend Wright and many other Black Liberation theologians.
The desired result from the White House is to make any detractors to this or any other policies coming from the Oval Office look like racists, which proved to be a most successful strategy during both the primary and general election campaigns. Is this a new idea? Hell no. It’s the old “divide and conquer” approach that both the Dems and the GOP have been rope-a-doping us along with for years.
Also, let me say here that I am appalled that slavery was in any way tolerated at any time in our country’s history. As a responsible person who believes in fighting for the rights of everyone who is disenfranchised, I did my part by marching in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960′s. We stuck together, and accomplished a huge victory
That said, my own European ancestors also endured hardships imposed upon them from their own political leaders, but I don’t believe that I am entitled to one penny for the atrocities they endured over a century ago. Instead, I’ve learned from it and stand up not only for myself but also for anyone who is being treated unfairly.

Anthony, I can tell you that I would have been the first to dig the Underground Railroad by hand, but this is ridiculous.
Obama’s WH is creating chaos within while the wagons are being circled.

NOt to worry, I just got (un-confirmed) word that this and other recent shady moves are going to bite him in the ass. Big time.
June 19, 2009 at 5:12 pm
Can’t wait…please alert me asap.
June 20, 2009 at 7:20 am
Anthony,
Not to worry? I haven’t had a decent night’s sleep since my first glimpse of this miserable bastard in 1/08. One word of cheer, and I’m yours for life.
June 19, 2009 at 5:41 pm
Not one penny! I was raised to believe that all persons are equal, regardless of race, religion – whatever. And that’s how I’ve led my life.
Not one penny of my tax money – I’ll cheat, if necessary.

They aren’t saying it, but I think this is the direction for $$ reparations that zero promised.

It will be used as a precedent to re-allocate funding (from the same source i mentioned above).

We must speak Anthony…you have the hair on my scalp standing in Don King fashion now.
June 19, 2009 at 7:10 pm
Don King? OMG, we are kindred. I’ve used that visual, and there is nothing like it.
WIll keep you informed as soon as I get facts and confirmation
June 20, 2009 at 2:34 am
I’m glad you got that visual…some don’t know who Don King is.

Although, maybe I shouldn’t be so fast to rely on cheating. Uppity Woman’s remark to me yesterday:
“No cheating! That’s reserved for politicians and appointees. YOU get to go to jail. They get to be cabinet members.” (Sorry, couldn’t resist)

I’m gonna cheat, and I have no interest in becoming a member of the cabinet.
Throwing all caution to the winds,

So,the Apology Tour 3 is already beginning in DC?
June 20, 2009 at 2:33 am
Oh yes Ca$h. $ is next.
June 20, 2009 at 3:33 am
First, this guy Cohen is one of the biggest asswipes around. He tried to become a member Congressional Black Caucus. For his troubles, a black woman named Nikki Tinker ran against him from their black congressional district in Tennessee. Her cmpaign ran on anti-Semitism.

No surprise there Mary. This man works on dividing the country.
June 20, 2009 at 3:36 am
Second: Reparations? What the hell is intergenerational welfare?
June 20, 2009 at 3:49 am
I’m telling you Mary…this prick promised God knows what. Heard MO is running the Healthcare BS.
June 20, 2009 at 7:25 am
Unless God says “Yes” to my prayers, 0 will be succeeded in the Oval Office by mrs.0 in 2016.
June 20, 2009 at 3:41 am
Third: who do you think will get first crack at all those government jobs that are being created?
June 20, 2009 at 3:48 am
Aunt Zetuni first and then the unions.
June 20, 2009 at 7:26 am
“Aunt Zetuni”
LOLOL

I hope John McCain voted “present” on this.
Barack’s family (both sides)has more guilt tied to slavery than mine. they were slaves to land barons in Europe long after slavery was abolished here. if Barry’s granny were’nt dead he’d prolly force an apology from her too.
June 21, 2009 at 5:53 am
If I had not seen the ashes scattered, I would swear that he would take granny in the jar to force an apology from beyond the grave. Why would Michelle not allow the kids to see their dying grandmother? Granny probably did not like Michelle.

“Why would Michelle not allow the kids to see their dying grandmother? Granny probably did not like Michelle.”
Bet granny’s color had something to do with it. You know, ‘typical bitter white people’ and all that.
This is an inspiration for my next animation tutorial. Scene opens with granny in bed at the end of her days, then flashbacks – knock down, drag out fights with Manzilla, kinda like the fight between Uma Thurman and Vivica A. Fox in Kill Bill.
Can’t wait to begin.
Thanks, mcnorman!

I hope you know that if you pull this one off, you will go viral. LOL
