Mr. Gates on Yale (that darned white institution), that he graduated from.
To his eventual embarrassment, he wrote in his Yale application:
“As always, whitey now sits in judgment of me, preparing to cast my fate. It is your decision either to let me blow with the wind as a nonentity or to encourage the development of self. Allow me to prove myself.”
He was substantial enough to get into Yale anyway, politicized enough to protest racism and the Vietnam War, but never so disheartened by his country that he didn’t consider himself a part of it.
I believe that the Gates tapes should be released. Don’t you?
I am sure that there are many who see POTUS for what he and Mr. Gates are.
BTW, does Mr. Gates consider the IRS a “white” institution now that he has to give them $11,000??
The e-mail spotlighted a $10,000 grant made to Joanne Kendall, the foundation’s treasurer, pointing out that she is also Gates’ assistant at Harvard. Gates, a member of ProPublica’s board of directors, said Monday that the award to Kendall was actually payment for doing administrative work for Inkwell and not, as Inkwell’s IRS 990 form states, a research grant.
Gates volunteered that the foundation’s second-largest grant, for $6,000, went to his fiancée, Angela DeLeon, who was also on Inkwell’s board from 2005 to 2006. Gates said he recused himself from the vote on DeLeon’s grant, which was for a project translating documents from Spanish and Dutch about the slave trade to Mexico.

Just saw on FOX News on-line that the 911 caller didn’t mention the race of the two people she saw at Gates’ house. I know the officer can’t do it, but I wish he would tell Barky and Gates where to put their beer!

any 911 or police dispatcher should be asking for a description of the perp- gender, color, height, age, distinctive clothing. that way the pOlice know who the hell they’re looking for when they get there. the information is required so police can respond as quickly as possible in an emergency without hurting innocent bystanders.

That is about what it will come to. Let’s neuter all law enforcement…NOT. I understand where and how a situation could become questionable. I just find his behavior ridiculous because it was based on a falsehood. No one said that there were black men breaking into his home.

anybody who serves in the military knows to present their ID when asked. no bloviating or bitching. of course military service is way below Gates’ class. i’m so sick of this horseshit drama. we have violent crime going through the roof in south FL,in upper class neighborhoods too. the criminals are bold now. there’s decreased tax revenue coming in, police being laid off, all overtime pay has been eliminated. cops are shot at on a regular basis & still they do their job. a young cop investigating a burglary in an upscale Ft Laud suburb was shot by 2 theives with an assault rifle recently. sometimes they get shot at just sitting in their patrol cars. almost everyday one or more ppl are gunned down in Miami. one of my neighbors was overpowered by a pretend delivery man & it took 4 cops to get the perp off him while he was being choked & stabbed. another neighbor, a very well educated black man with an anger problem, kidnapped his girlfriend & then used his truck as a deadly weapon against her when she tried to escape. because a few yrs earlier he had shot at an ex-girlfriend’s car, fled, & held a homeowner hostage the cops were naturally cautious responding. they checked many homes surrounding him to make sure he hadn’t taken refuge in the area. after blocking the street & a long standoff cops called in the swat team. (not unusual anymore since cops are being killed just walking up to home to ask questions). the swat team waited several hours before entering the house. that’s just one little example. should they have stayed out because he was black? many of the neighbors were black & they were concerned for their lives too. that’s what comes next. the police just ignore calls. Gates was asked for an ID, not a fucking biography. was that too much to ask? someday when the jackass falls down & can’t get up, & he’s laying on the floor screamming his head off I hope the neighbors ignore him, or if the police come they take their time. it’s like that in LOTS of neighborhoods where ppl are afraid to get involved. i wonder if Gates supporters are property owners. if they were they would be impressed with Sgt Crowley’s quick courteous response. if a white man or woman had thrown a fit & caused a disturbance like that they would have been arrested AND appeared before a judge. the man acted like a little girl afraid for her life. & now Cambridge PD is being educated about a non-existent racial profiling case? the inexperienced pos in the White House is living a Marie Antoinette fantasy while the country’s cities go to shit. perhaps he & his friend/campaign fund raiser Gates should read the local papers or turn on the local news instead of going on vacation in Martha’s Vinyard. their realm of experience is extremely narrow.

He may have grown up when the KKK was busy in the south, but it is time to let it go. He needs to grow up and leave that baggage behind.

I disagree that scars were left by the Rev Wright’s church. POTUS has ALWAYS been a liar and fraud. The AA community refused to see or believe it because they wanted him to be genuine to the point of being blind. POTUS will continuously prove himself to be what he is.

I am sure that this is why he refuses to disclose his records raging. First of all, it is a felony to lie on government documents. He received money and scholarships based on his applications for federal aid. He probably also got into Harvard based on foreign student status. Diversity, you know.

As a fellow Ivy League prof, “Phantom Negro” knows Gates has the power to make live miserable for him/her (”Dr. Henry Louis Gates has reach and influence in the academy”).
The Ivy League is not real life. College in general is not real life, and the Ivy League is a more fantastic version of college. The amenities are better, the rules are flexible, and everyone, student and faculty alike, is well aware that the realities of life as most people know it are merely a peculiar footnote to the day-to-day of campus life. I do not speak out of turn when I say this. I know because I am in and of that world.
As a black Ivy Leaguer, something funny happens as you become ensconced in ivy. You’re smart enough to understand that race and racism are a reality you deal with on a daily basis, but you also know that your university ID sets you apart.

I’m beginning to consider the possibility that the whole thing was staged. obama is desperate for an excuse to declare martial law, and it would be his style– if you can’t find a crisis, make one–to have arranged with various black “leaders” around the country to stir up racial tensions if the opportunity even remotely arises.
