A black sergeant who was at the home of Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. when he was arrested says he’s been maligned as an “Uncle Tom” for supporting the actions of the white arresting officer.

Cambridge Sgt. Leon Lashley gave a letter to Sgt. James Crowley to give to President Barack Obama during their so-called beer summit with Gates on Thursday night at the White House.
In the letter, which was also sent to CNN, Lashley says Gates “may have caused grave and potentially irreparable harm to the struggle for racial harmony.”
Lashley says he has become known as a traitor to his heritage by some because he “spoke the truth” about the arrest.
Apologies? NONE from Gates, the victim racist (victim statement issued) or POTUS the baiter.
Class warfare? I think so. Mr. Gates daughter seems to be hell bent on crying victim as well.

So in essence, the POTUS seized an opportunity for yet another photo-op to exploit the racial polarization that he incited by jumping the gun and making a racist remark.

I’m sure in his scrapbook of his White House years, that pic will be captioned with the words “My First Teachable Moment”.

According to his non existent school records, he did not have a teacher tell him anything. What surprises me is how there still so many people out there that insist Gates was not wrong and POTUS was the best because he intervened.
Will he intervene for us Anthony? Will he go out and start yapping at another photo op to save us from being victims of the police?

Whalen & her goofy attorney didn’t help her case by claiming BOTH men behaved badly. she doesn’t sit in a patrol car all day as a target. what’s her problem? no balls? she could organize a crime watch if she’s scared. or at least stfu about cops whom she depends on to protect her.

Whalen’s statement & Obama’s comments did white police officers no good. it put them in danger. the only time they’re seen on national news is when a rogue white cop commits an injustice against black ppl. they don’t present local crime reports that fully inform about police work. this plays right into identity politics. Whalen did have a “case”. She was attacked b/c she did her civic duty and NO ONE is apologizing to her. Your post raging continues the attacks. Back off a bit and focus on the real jerks, Gates and Obama who started and fueled this latest race card scuffle and all the stupid media attention and beer drinking stupid photo ops to try to portray The One as some kind of “healer”. Whalen’s attorney made the comment, Whalen was probably pissed at all the negative crap being thrown at her and I don’t blame her.

I agree, she does have a case. She was collateral damaged caused by Gates. No one is apologizing. If the cop that was there with Gates is being called an Uncle Tom, you can only imagine what has been said to her. All this because she had a cell phone and came upon an elderly woman that she did not want to dismiss as a crackpot when she asked her to call the police. This could have been any one of us.
Dear ole Mr. Gates just can’t get that “I’m sorry” for causing all this shit to go down because I was “tired” and crazed at the moment. He is a mess. No less than the jackpot moron POTUS. Whalen repeated the comment her lawyer made about BOTH parties behaving badly. she’s added to the damage already done to police in general by that statement.
city police dept’s are stretched financially right now- layoffs, no overtime pay. they don’t need frivilous law suits. perhaps you didn’t notice that most police depts did not receive fed stimulus money they requested?
it’s prolly hard for ppl to appreciate what happens when police funding is reduced if they’re living in nice suburbs or gated communities. ignorance is bliss. eventually the crime spills out to other areas like it has here. I have never seen things this bad in south FL before & we’ve had periods of crime spiking in the past 25 yrs. any police officers being shot or killed where you live? any drive by shootings on a regular basis? bank robberies? have a regular influx of fugitives or refuges of many ethnic groups to your area? you’re fortunate if you don’t. the idea of selling a home now to escape is delusional. Mayor Bloomburg is throwing some more homeless ppl our way too. like we really don’t have enough already.

I am 100% behind the police force as I am 100% behind people who do the right thing and report suspicious behavior when they see it. There was a young 17 year old girl murdered in LA recently. She was picked up by a scumbag near a shopping area on Wilshire Blvd, not a remote area to say the least. If more people felt comfortable getting involved, maybe that young girl would be alive today.

Did Harvard get embarrassed by the continuing Boston media coverage of Gate’s “charitable foundation” and ask Gates to leave?
