World may not be warming, say scientists.
The United Nations climate panel faces a new challenge with scientists casting doubt on its claim that global temperatures are rising inexorably because of human pollution.
Seriously, have a peaceful day! Eat something sweet, drink something tasty and enjoy your day. If you don’t have a human to cuddle with, try a kitty or puppy.

My husband forgot it was Valentine’s Day! LOL! The poor guy has been working his butt off at the office this week (actually, since the first of the year), and he doesn’t even know what day it is.
Not worried, though. I gave him a card with his coffee and he felt so bad that he forgot…I couldn’t be mad at him. Besides, that means the extra guilt could bring me some great sex tonight. Oooolala!

Tell him it’s also Chinese New Year (Year of the Metal Tiger) and he forgot that too.
February 14, 2010 at 10:41 am
Happy Year of the Metal Tiger!! What’s the difference?
February 14, 2010 at 10:42 am
Between metal and other tiger?
February 14, 2010 at 12:50 pm
There are 5 elements (fire, water, metal, earth, wood) as well as positive (yang) and negative (yin) that make up the 10 stems that a year can also have, so 2010, Yang Metal comes around once every 10 years: every year ending in zero will be a yang metal year.
When combined with the 12 animals, the metal tiger comes around only once every 60 years (because Tigers are always Yang). The elements are modifiers: metal is more or less what one would expect: strong, sharp, but inflexible; the other elements work similarly.
Each animal has its own fixed element and is either positive or negative: so that of the year you are in can either enhance or oppose it.
The tiger itself is yang, and its fixed element is wood; it’s also 3rd trine (means it’s grouped with the horse and dog).
2010 is a yang metal year, the metal overrides the tiger’s wood: even a tiger will need to work hard this year, though generally speaking when a year is one’s birth year or that of one of the trine members it is usually a good year for one.
Metal tiger is classified also as Keng Yin, or Tiger Descending the Mountain, like one sees in a lot of tiger scrolls: it represents a protective position to ward off evil.
Keng and Yin are 2 of the 24 (15 degree) directions used in feng shui (the cemetery and house-siting, 9 palaces, flying stars kind, not the object placement kind). 2010 has eight white (white is metal) for the year star and 2 black for the first lunar month star.
This puts Tai Sui/ (Grand Duke, representation of Jupiter, malevolent) in the northeast from 52.5° to 67.5°: in chinese astrology, this is the location of the Tiger.
The Sui Po is the sector opposite this (in chinese astrology this is the Monkey/ conflict) it is in the southwest from 232.6°-247.5°; Wu Wang (5 yellow earth star/ malevolent) in the south west from 202.5° to 247.5°; and Sam Sart (3 killings, malevolent) in the north from 337.5° to 22.5°.
(Feng shui actually starts the year of the tiger with Li Chun the start of spring on Feb 4, 2010 in accordance with the solar/ Hsia calendar).

Oh Nunly, you are so funny! Poor guy. I don’t think of Valentine’s Day as anything but a day to relax.
I used to love to receive flowers til I had to pay the bill. LOL

May not be warming, may not be cooling, heck- from day to day I just look out my window if I want to know the weather!
Some interesting things floating around the internets re “The Year of the Tiger.” Apparently the Chinese zodiac has an element associated with each – as does the Zodiac we are familiar with- but one of their elements is metal. Supposed to be a bad year for the Tiger’s opposite- the monkey- and here I was looking forward to a better year- darn it! the meatal thing may (supposedly) be an indication of increasing conflict.
Ok- so we all knew that anyway! Just like the weather- quit telling me the obvious!
LOl Happy St. Valentine’s to you and yours!

… the wind caressing curtains hung from above an open sliding door – the sea spread out below, the laughter of its spray dancing on the rocks…
… the smell of roses, mixed with jasmine and rosemary fill the room. The sense of comfort, relaxation, and childish pleasure congeal to cleanse the soul…
… the hope of spring, innocence, rebirth and joy confuse and distort the dreadful days of winter – the recent past is but a distant memory…
For one solitary day, we can celebrate love for what it is – when the mind says yes even if the body and spirit urge caution… When people can take up the cause of love if for no other reason than it is illogical, incomprehensible, and wonderful in all of its vast unknown qualities – all waiting to be discovered…
Love can be worshiped every day, if only we can close our eyes and imagine… Imagine that yes, it is possible to forgive and forget – even the biggest of all trespasses, which is the enslavement of the mind…
Love takes work – hard work. It ain’t easy, yet if love were easy nobody would respect it for the transformative power that it is…
Darkness and light, goodness and evil, joy and sadness – all dance together in this thing called life… The important thing is for us all to hold tight and remember that the more we find out about life and love, the more we want to experience it, because its mysteries are boundless…
Happy Valentine’s Day to McNorman! Job well done…

Happy Valentine’s Day, McN.
February 15, 2010 at 12:31 pm
Yes, it fell off the board Mary. Thank you for thinking of me.
February 14, 2010 at 9:39 pm
mcnorman – thank you so much for the kind comment you left me and for passing along that great verse from NNIC (and thanks NNIC for sending it to mcnorman!) I’m printing it out for my journal.
My step-son died 10 weeks ago, our little Elle dog – six weeks ago, and now our precious Sophie dog. I’m thinking we should stop all this now, don’t you?
Sophie will be buried tomorrow in the herb garden along with Elle’s ashes. They were best buddies and I’m sure they’re together again.

Oh Adrienne I am truly sorry for the enormous loss your family is facing at this time. Time does heal the heart but it doesn’t make one forget. For that alone, I am grateful that we have a heart.
February 14, 2010 at 10:33 pm
McN,
Looks like my Valentine’s Day greeting fell off the board into cyberspace.
Hope you had a lovey day.
February 15, 2010 at 7:56 am
Oh no! as Mr Bill would say. I do hope your day went well Mary (as should all days)!
