So the upstanding community activist role model perv fondles himself in front of the superintendent because he is ill? It wasn’t the first time.
Detroit –One day after facing accusations of fondling himself, Detroit Public Schools President Otis Mathis wrote a letter to colleagues today blaming “ongoing health problems” for his “poor judgment.”
Okay, it’s not his fault ladeez and gents.
The letter, which attempted to rescind his resignation he submitted Thursday, doesn’t explicitly address accusations from Superintendent Teresa Gueyser that he touched himself during a private meeting.
But Mathis acknowledged that he “made inappropriate actions toward a professional employee of the board” and promises to remove himself from personnel decisions involving her.
Perhaps Mr. Mathis never read about sexual harassment. If he reads at the same level that he writes, I assure you he cannot read well enough to comprehend what sexual harassment is.
“I am following up with my doctors because I need to pursue treatment, and because I want to make sure that what happened doesn’t ever happen again,” Mathis said. “However, I do not need to resign in order to take care of my health.”
The letter to colleagues came the same day board Vice President Anthony Adams today released a two-page letter from Gueyser accusing Mathis of fondling himself during a meeting this week. She called it his “usual habit” during one-on-one meetings. She said she tries to ignore it.
“On many occasions, I have asked him not to touch himself,” she wrote in the letter dated Wednesday.
Get it? Some ladeez are a bit more sensitive to this behavior.
The letter doesn’t explicitly say when the incident occurred, except that the meeting began at 4:55 p.m.
“He then re-zipped and unzipped his pants again; again placing the hand with the handkerchief inside the zipper area; this time moving his hand as if to be masturbating in front of me,” Gueyser wrote.
She wrote that Mathis apologized after the incident, but it “represents the culmination of a long history of personally documented inappropriate behavior by the board president.”
via Detroit schools president: Health woes caused ‘poor judgment’. What say you about this man that is supposed to sit in a chair that beckons decent role model behavior to the taxpayer and the future of Detroit’s public school students?

“Hand On Junk”
ROFL, McN

He’s a pervert. I would think that the superintendent might have come across better if she had yelled out to him to take his hand off his junk. Speak as the dumbass understands.

What kind of Reverend is this guy? He also said this- (from you link)
“I feel bad for him because he probably felt that it was something she would probably like or she got humor out of it.”
What? WHAT????? Like watching some guy play pocket pool? WTF?????
The there is this
“Mohamed Okdie, chair of the Detroit Board of Police Commissioners, said he was shocked as well.
“As far as I am concerned, he is one of the finest gentlemen I have ever met,” Okdie said. “I have the utmost respect for him and his character.”
Hey= Mohamed- maybe it’s ok in Islam- but NOT in America dude!
WTF! Mohamed is chair of the Board of Police Commissioners. Guess we all know how the police investigation is going to turn out don’t we?
Cheese and Rice!

It’s no wonder that the DPS are in such disarray PMM. What a bunch of losers. Of course they would also have stats like this: 55% unemployment rate, atrocious murder rate, abandoned and condemned buildings at every turn. The murder rate is 5.16 times the National Average, cases of rape are 2.41 times the National Average, car theft is 4.56 times the National Average to name just a few.

A note about the Reverend. He’s in charge of other peoples children. He dumps his own.
School board member gives up rights to kids

You know I just can’t fathom that some people in that community are defending this man. You have to wonder WTH they are thinking. Although I’m sure it has to do with politics. Most school boards have factions, even though most are supposed to be non-partisan. I’m sure this is an example of the good ole boy system.
The Superintendent is most likely an outsider. That’s one job you couldn’t give me, inner city or large city school superintendent. I think their average employment time is something like 3 years.
Hopefully this man will be removed and someone decent put in his place.
June 19, 2010 at 8:32 am
The Superintendent is a paid position that must watch her ps and qs lest she be axed by the most capable DPS board of trustees. I think Detroit get what they have because they can’t find anyone who would want to subject themselves to this trash.
June 19, 2010 at 6:25 am
okay there are 2 possibilities here: either Mathis thinks he can spank the monkey in public and no one will notice, or he doesn’t think no one will notice.
not sure which is creepier

Either way Nom, this guy is clueless. I thought that taking several years of remedial English was a process that gave him credibility to anyone who struggles with education. He seems to be completely lacking in any semblance of decent behavior.

Why would this pig do this to this woman? I think she probably took a lot of crap from these guys and finally said enough.

His ducking in the bathroom to get away from reporters reminded me of John Edwards when he was trying to hide from the National Enquirer!
June 19, 2010 at 4:38 pm
Bwhahahahhaha, another Edwards clone. Pathetic 50+ yr old men. lol
June 19, 2010 at 7:01 pm
You have no idea, mcn.
Try being the therapist to a guy like this and have your supervisor tell you to just “suck it up” (if you will).
I had a very long week.
June 19, 2010 at 8:40 pm
I hear you. Three quarters of my life is spent in psychiatric ether zone. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to suck it up.
June 19, 2010 at 8:13 pm
This guy should totally run for the Senate in South Carolina.
June 19, 2010 at 8:41 pm
Ya think 15? If he doesn’t, they should recruit the Reverend.

When I used to do regional coordination for the DC metro area I used to come across this kind of behavior all the time when working with the District of Columbia government. Doctors, lawyers, administrators, council members, more than one mayor (not Sharon Pratt). You would not believe some of the things I witnessed. I was of course called “racist” for finding such lewd behavior unacceptable.
However, these behavior patterns did not seem arise in any of the surrounding suburban and rural areas which have – and I hate to use the term because I find race an artificial determination – significant minority populations which are well represented at all levels of government.
If one of the “suburban reps” called the DC crew on such behavior they were either called racist (like me) or Uncle Tom/Aunt Jemima. You get the picture.
And by the way, the general population’s understand of Reverend and reverend in cases such as Murray (you may also substitute Wright is you like) are not at all the same thing. Its amazing how many “reverends” are running about. I had the process by which they manage to gain such titles (primarily for tax purposes and “fund raising”) explained but it boggles the mind to this day.
June 20, 2010 at 7:19 pm
OMG Mt Laurel, I’m surprised you aren’t blind by now. Hispanics call this behavior “lockaway behavior.” I understand the use of the word reverend can mean a multitude of things. We have a few of them here locally. I do believe it is cultural. I know that sounds racist, but there are so many things that Hispanics do and no one else does. I guess I am a racist too.
