I love the photos from that time…I have many of my mom and dad when my dad was in the Army and they were a such a cute couple. They both eloped before he was sent overseas, my mom was only 16 years old and my dad was about 20, if I recall.
The identity of the nurse in the photograph was not known until the late 1970s when Ms Shain wrote to the photographer saying that she was the woman in the picture.
The man never contacted the guy that took the pic.

Can you believe what babies did back then? They took life by the bull’s horns and rode into the sunset without ever looking back.
