The White House is looking for a replacement...Gen. Patraeus according to the AP. You will remember him as the guy that McChrystal replaced. Go figure.
He says he did not offer to resign, but then I think he did. I don’t think POTUS has the balls to fire him, but I could be wrong. Summoned from the battlefield to be spanked…
The issue will probably come down to how true McChrystal’s admission is. If he has really compromised the mission, then it’s time to go, and McChrystal should resign instead of forcing Obama to fire him. If Obama thinks McChrystal’s doing a good job (which is hotly debated at the moment anyway) and feels he can continue to work with the commander even after the childish and reprehensible remarks McChrystal and his team felt comfortable making in public, then Obama will probably stick with him. I predict that McChrystal returns to Afghanistan, if for no other reason than to avoid another confirmation hearing on his replacement and the questions that will arise from it.
Don’t forget, he is a general with thirty years of service and POTUS is a three year community organizer. Who is a military genius? Some more juicy tidbits.
After his 30 minute woodshed moment, he did not return to the 11:30 strategy session. Looks like the thin skinned guy in the WH accepted the resignation? Exit question? Why replace McChrystal with Patraeus…cuz it’s the same road, just a different name. BTW, is this the same guy? Boss Emeritus: “How far we’ve come from the MoveOn/General Betray Us days?” Oh oh, questions about leadership arising now.
June 23, 2010 at 10:33 am
Can you imagine what McChrystal can reveal to the American people when he’s get in the position to freely express himself? I hope he tears Obam and his regime a new a$$.
June 23, 2010 at 10:35 am
Can’t wait steve…can’t wait.
June 23, 2010 at 10:45 am
“Who is a military genius?”
that would be neither, Alex for 50 cents: just look at the bungle of Nuristan
June 23, 2010 at 10:47 am
Bwhahahahahaha Nom…you win!!!!

OT: BP removes cap: spill now flowing unimpeded, is “massively worse”
http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0623/bp-yanks-containment-cap-problem-oil-flows-unimpeded-gulf/
the surmise that the McCrystal business looks like a distraction seems to be bearing out
June 23, 2010 at 10:48 am
This didn’t just happen. It was two days ago according to someone who witnessed it. They said that the floor opened up. That is scary.
June 23, 2010 at 11:07 am
I just did learn about it, it hasn’t been on the msm (tv) news that I’ve seen; been avoiding looking at BP much the past few days though.
.
June 23, 2010 at 10:49 am
McChrystal is not a distraction, the clown mishandling everything under the sun is. Berms have been halted in LA because they have decided that is not where they should be. Louisiana is pissed.
June 23, 2010 at 11:05 am
should say “coverage of McCrystal business”: agree, don’t think he was fired to create a distraction, but do think the massive media coverage is to distract from the latest BP disaster (and blame any downturn in war support or “success” on BHO’s dismissal of McCrystal).
I really despise BHO, but jmo he is only an oligarch tool, and not in charge. There’re way too many links between the war contracting companies and the energy companies to separate the war from the oil.
Guess you saw that in addition to the 120mil for guarding the US embassy in Afghanistan, XE/Blackwater also got $100 mil contract to guard the CIA there.
June 23, 2010 at 11:12 am
Right you are, Nom. O-What’s-His-Name is a tool for the oligarchs. His best bud and PR maven, not to mention puppeteer, George Soros, stands to profit handsomely from the deep water offshore drilling ban…
http://frontpagemag.com/2010/06/22/soros-oil-spill-payoff/
Whether they be Democrats or Republicans, the game that is being played behind the scenes is about oil and gas, Afghanistan being a major strategic route for a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan…
Where is the vision and the leadership for the future? Lost in the cacophony of competing media distractions, that’s where…
Sad.

Yes. And next up…the Saudi Prince visit.
June 23, 2010 at 1:39 pm
and its US buddy Maiman that owns the largest share of the Turkmen oil
June 24, 2010 at 7:30 am
Yes, they are trying to show he is a “take-charge” guy…all obama has been is a “johnny-come-lately”. He has no leadership skills and only is capable of pointing the finger of blame at others.
McChrystal replaces Petraeus, who the replaces McChrystal…is this what is referred to as the circle of life?
“Say What You Will..It Feels So Good”
June 23, 2010 at 10:52 am
From what I understand, McChrystal was “relieved of his command” but not booted out of the Army. So, I imagine that as long as Obama is President, he’ll have to keep his mouth shut until he officially retires.
I think in the long run, this will end up hurting Obama a lot more than it will ever hurt McChrystal. When you hear about a General complain that the Commander-in-Chief shows little interest in the war where our finest are being killed for their country, it doesn’t bode well. He’s already losing support of the military and their families, this will only make it worse.
June 23, 2010 at 10:54 am
Yes, I just saw that on teevee. Bam is a complete loser…the BP well is out of control again, they are holding back berm building, and Karzai has just lost his only friend.
June 23, 2010 at 10:54 am
I honestly don’t know how anyone can work for that deviant and his gang of other deviants.
June 23, 2010 at 12:15 pm
[...] believe, however, that the general did this for reasons unbeknownst to us. He’s no dummy, and he knew full well that his scathing interview with Rolling Stone would create the explosive [...]
June 23, 2010 at 12:18 pm
There is so much more here than we know about. McChrystal is no dummy and why, of all publications, did he grant such a scathing interview to as the ROLLING STONE?? Crikey, I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when the man-child and the general met.
Well said, to Nunly: “When you hear about a General complain that the Commander-in-Chief shows little interest in the war where our finest are being killed for their country, it doesn’t bode well.”
June 23, 2010 at 12:29 pm
The Afghanistan war is lost. The finger-pointing in the media is simply a way to distract people from it…
Prime example – the oil gusher in the gulf: All the finger-pointing and blame in the world won’t fix the problem…
And what is the problem? We are turning the other cheek to the fact that all of this is about control of natural resources – even if it kills us…
Primitive stuff…. One would think we still live in the stone ages from the looks of things… Except now we have modern ways of living in denial about it…
June 23, 2010 at 1:36 pm
there’s a good article up at alternet of all places to that effect: http://www.alternet.org/news/147302/don%27t_let_the_mcchrystal_frenzy_obscure_the_dirty_truth_about_afghanistan/?page=entire
June 23, 2010 at 1:27 pm
I will take the guy with 30 years experience over the 3 year community organizer.
June 23, 2010 at 3:27 pm
Oh would I have loved to have sat on the wall as a fly as well. While watching the manchild speak about the encounter, you could see his jaw was clenched. He really doesn’t like his job, does he?
June 23, 2010 at 12:32 pm
I was wondering as well on the McChrystal thing whether he is resigning from service altogether or from this post. makes a huge difference in what he can and can not say to the public.
We shall see. Pitiful- oilsoc putting it out as “respect for civilian control of the military”- some very astute politico thought that one up- it sure wasn’t Barry.
June 23, 2010 at 1:28 pm
I don’t think he will give up his retirement etc. If he does, he should let it all come out about mid October.
June 23, 2010 at 5:15 pm
only 20 yrs service req’d for military pension. McChrystal is serving at the will of the Army at this point.
“civilian control of the military”. that would be his little dick controling it? he looked like a child having a tantrum. stomp yer feet Barry. make the bad dream go away.
June 23, 2010 at 1:29 pm
As far as respect goes, it is a two way street. I don’t see much from his “boss.”
June 23, 2010 at 4:03 pm
Irony of ironies: the man who ran against GWB’s “wrong war” in Iraq just hired the same General to pursue his (0′s) “right war” in Afghanistant.
The Russians, whose Sovietempire foundered on an un winnable war in Afghanistan–which is sill unwinnale, must be laughing their asses off.
June 23, 2010 at 6:00 pm
Zero strikes again Mary. Wow, he’s batting in the negative now.
June 23, 2010 at 4:04 pm
I just saw the “latest poll” on NBO (C). It showed a 62% unfavorable re the job TehOne is doing. Only 20-something % have a favorable opinion of oilsoc and his oilministration.
June 23, 2010 at 6:02 pm
Oh leslie, it’s probably far higher however, they insist on skewing the numbers by using an abundance of children. One termer.
