“I’m having a Katrina flashback,” said the Bay St. Louis Democrat after an aerial survey of the Mississippi Sound and barrier islands Saturday morning. “I haven’t seen this much incompetence since Michael Brown was running FEMA.”
Brown was the FEMA director who was fired for a faulty response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Taylor flew with U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Tupelo, as far east as Ship Island and west to Cat Island from the Gulfport airport on a National Guard Black Hawk helicopter.

I for one, am tired of hearing people who keep comparing the oil spill to Katrina. Was Katrina horrible? Yes it was! I have a ton of relatives in Houston who complain of over crowded schools because of all the people from LA who never went home after Katrina and a friend who lost everything and nearly her life and so I know it was.
BUT the after-effects of Katrina were cleaned up and homes and businesses were and are being rebuilt and 20 years from now Katrina will be a very distant and bad memory.
Not so with this baby, especially not so if the stuff they say about methane gas is true. And while Brown was asleep at the wheel I don’t think he, or anyone at FEMA, or Bush for that matter thought of Katrina as a stroke of good luck in their cause to destroy America. And thats exactly the way I think Obama and Co. looked at the oil spill, as in — “awwww the gods smile on us, for here is a nice crisis we can use to further topple the evil empire.” In another words incompetence my foot…with the BP oil spill criminal would be a better word.
Anyway just my 2 cents worth.

You are very correct tracmick. I believe that the reason that this was so surprising is because this is a Democrat complaining. You are NOT supposed to complain aloud and he did. OOPS, I foresee a scolding of some sort.
This spill will spells the end of many folk’s livelihood. It cannot be cleaned as Katrina’s mess was. This is a very loud message and I don’t think that the public wants to hear it. BP is criminally negligent and so is our government for doing their bidding.
To be honest, I believe that the oil industry could be clean and safe. The cost would be high and no one wants to pay. So now, we pay dearly.

OIL-Bama is like 1 million Katrinas all rolled into one alien* – from Uranus I do believe!
*That is the opinion of distinguished Wall Street Journal commentator DOROTHY RABINOWITZ as expressed in her analysis entitled “The Alien in the White House
The distance between the president and the people is beginning to be revealed.”
