20-year-old woman student is police chief of violent Mexican town.

A 20-year-old criminology student, the only candidate for the position, was designated as police chief in the violence-plagued town of Guadalupe Distrito Bravo, Mexican media reported Tuesday.

Marisol Valles Garcia took charge on Monday of security in the town, population 10,000, on the US border. The community is around 80 km east of Ciudad Juarez, itself regarded as the most violent city in Mexico.

I have to say that as a parent, I would be dying if this were my kid.

Oracles?
In Nevada’s prime swing county, Republicans are significantly outpacing Democrats in early-voting turnout, according to official statistics — a potential sign of difficulty for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid as he attempts to rally his base for his tough contest with Republican Sharron Angle.

Early vote a bad omen for Harry Reid.  Not a good sign Harry.

Instead of welcoming guests in a formal receiving line with a White House photographer on hand to help visitors capture their historic moment, or simply strolling through the Red, Blue and Green rooms chatting informally with invitees, the Obamas prefer to stand in a designated spot, such as one end of the East Room or in the Grand Foyer, safely positioned behind a red velvet rope. The kind of red velvet rope clubs use to keep out the riffraff. From there, the presidential couple smiles, chats, makes eye contact and waves as their guests jockey for position to touch their hands. No mingling.

Clarification on beatings.

A man can beat his wife and kids as long as he leaves no physical marks, the United Arab Emirates’ highest court has found.

The judgment came after a man slapped his wife and kicked and slapped his daughter, according to Abu Dhabi’s The National newspaper.

In the case debated by the Federal Supreme court, the daughter was bruised on the hand and knee, while the wife’s lip and teeth were injured.

According to the court, the injuries showed that the man had over-stepped his rights under Shariah, or Islamic law, the newspaper reported. He had originally been fined 500 United Arab Emirates dirhams ($136), but appealed the case twice.

At 23, the daughter was deemed too old to have been disciplined, the newspaper said.

According to Shariah law, a man can beat his wife and children as long as he has first tries unsuccessfully to discipline them by admonishing and then abstaining from sexual relations with his wife.

Islamic scholars don’t agree on the definition of “beating” but they do agree that it should not be too severe.

“Although the (law) permits the husband to use his right (to discipline), he has to abide by the limits of this right,” Chief Justice Falah al Hajeri wrote in the ruling released Sunday, according to The National. “If the husband abuses this right to discipline, he cannot be exempted from punishment.”

Librarians are sexy.  Well, that’s obviously the thought here.

Stuart resident Herbert Johnson, 92, has been ordered to stay out of Martin County public libraries after waging an amorous campaign toward female employees.

His offensive included, for one librarian in particular, a letter left on the front desk “containing sexually explicit language stating what (he) wanted to do to” her.

Speaking Of Dress Codes. So, not funny.  But, why stop here…Parent Stews Over Son’s Islamic Assignment.  Did they speak of Sharia when they discussed the religion of peace?

Islam is not a religion, it seems to be more of a manifesto on keeping people down, particularly women and homosexuals.   Which brings me to this question.  Will the Saudi homosexual prince face the death penalty?  Now fear seems to be taking hold in the UK.

Britain is ‘losing the battle against Islamic extremism’ by failing to outlaw burqas, the architect of the French ban said today.

Jacques Myard, a senior member of President Nicolas Sarkozy’s ruling UMP party, said relaxed UK policies had ‘opened the door to terrorism’.

He added: ‘Allowing women to exclude themselves from society by wearing the full Islamic veil makes radicals extremely comfortable, and Britain should realise this.’
