Judge in Va. strikes down federal health care law. That mandate is the problem and that is the heart of this strike. It exceeds the limits of the Commerce Clause.
A federal judge declared the Obama administration’s health care law unconstitutional Monday, siding with Virginia’s attorney general in a dispute that both sides agree will ultimately be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.
U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson is the first federal judge to strike down the law, which has been upheld by two other federal judges in Virginia and Michigan. Several other lawsuits have been dismissed and others are pending, including one filed by 20 other states in Florida.
He must have seen that media fiasco where Bill became POTUS again.

I heard this report earlier this morning. It again made me think that the only way gov’t could mandate health insurance might be to provide the same coverage for EVERYONE (can you say single payor?) with optional coverage to be purchased by individuals. However that would never fly because all those big insurers would get fewer dollars than they were counting on (and most likely promised).

The goal has always been single payor leslie. It’s weird because, the coding books for medical are generated by Ingenix (which is United Healthcare). They already have an in to the system. They are the ones who worked with ObamaCare to develop the necessary details. It is one and the same. They work side by side Medicare to develop the coding, etc. Right now, they lose the private inroads, but are continuously developing the public inroads. They are NOT going to lose out no matter what
I believe as Anthony does that if 20% of our income was placed into a healthcare fund, we might actually succeed at better healthcare. I can tell you that Medicare is straightforward. I would prefer that plan over some of the private plans that can screw you at any time.

In actuality, I think that we are now paying for the sins of the past medical abuse. I remember when a nose job would be done under the premise of medical necessity. Hah, not anymore. I would prefer that plan over some of the private plans that can screw you at any time.
I don’t believe that most people know or understand the inside of medical insurance and how the private plans actually work. It’s a den of iniquity.

“Cut your spending and put aside more in retirement accounts.”
banks have an ugly habit of cancelling ira plans and decimating 401ks;
not that I have extra money to invest but I’d buy commodities and land
“Some extra tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars set aside…” this is a joke, right?

Not anything expensive…in the nickel range is okay.

yeah, but only these tinplate nickels, not real nickels

Put away hundreds of thousands- yeah right- if I had had that advice when younger (and followed it) but what now? With my back- oh well I am just screwed.
The trick for us is to try as hard as we can to hold on to our ten acres. If we get sick- well I suppose we will be in the same position as our grandparents. Pray to die with dignity.

mom~ did you ever ask your doc about the botox injuections for the chroninc pain?
The client I mentioned at UW continues to do so much better since she had the botox injections last June.
December 13, 2010 at 1:54 pm
No way will worker’s comp cover anything like that. Did speak to the doc- and it is not something she thinks I should try as the last series of injections offered no relief at all. She wants to wait a full year after the initial surgery before trying anymore.
meanwhile- worker’s comp had me go for an IME- waiting the results- meanwhile they are denying authorization for scripts. The attorney will deal with that.
It’s a never ending battle.
December 14, 2010 at 11:44 am
My client had to cover the injections because her insurance also refused to cover. Here in the Chicago area, the injections cost about $70. She said it was the LEAST expensive treatment she received and it was the most effective. (She is no longer working due to the back issues and is currently on a COBRA plan that steadfastly refuses to cover. She is saving her pennies for the next time she needs this treatment.)
My best wishes to you Mom. I keep my fingers crossed and my thoughts for your speedy return to health.

Right on schedule and as predicted, the “battle” to get rid of this ridiculous mountain of useless legislation will serve as yet another major distraction from the fact that earmarks, lobbying, and various and sundry other forms of electoral malfeasance in the name of protecting and coddling the status quo, entrenched power elite will continue unabated…
Of course, just sayin’ is all, ya know…

This better get to the Supreme Court before obama stacks the Court.
In the meantime, I’m loving seeing the bastards go down in flames.
