This guy is one messed up dude.
Deputies then escorted Fuller from the room. As he was being led off, Fuller shouted loudly to the room at large. Several witnesses said that what they thought they heard him shout was, “You’re all whores!”
Fuller, age 63, is a political operative who specializes in gathering petitions for ballot initiatives. Before the program began, he passed out business cards to people sitting around him that read:
“Signatures
“Expediting Initiatives since 2006
“J. Eric Fuller
“Political Circulator.”
A Pima County Sheriff’s spokesman told KGUN9 News that the department has charged Fuller with one count of threats and intimidation, and said they plan to charge him with at least one count of disorderly conduct. Humphries told KGUN9 News that he does plan to press those charges.
via Shooting rampage victim arrested at ABC-TV town hall meeting. What’s a political circulator? Come on, someone out there has to know wtf this nut does.
January 15, 2011 at 8:12 pm
he has been referred to as a disabled veteran (disability has been unspecified).
a couple of days ago he also tried to visit Loughner’s parents ostensibly to forgive them.
one imagines the events have shook him up rather a lot.
January 15, 2011 at 9:03 pm
He has some very odd ramblings Nom. We’ll see what happens after he undergoes a psych eval.
January 16, 2011 at 1:35 am
According to news sources, Fuller has been involuntarily committed for 72 hrs. Considering the national attention, I suspect Fuller will be in Psychiatric.facility much longer than 3 days. Perhaps at very least 30 days or longer.
January 16, 2011 at 7:45 am
Perhaps, but I don’t believe Hasan got that amount of time in a psych unit.
January 16, 2011 at 1:39 am
His ramblings are odd probably because he’s lacking social skills. 1st thing, he talks too much.
If they don’t keep him locked down in pschy ward, I suggest he better lawyer up FAST.
January 16, 2011 at 7:46 am
He might be talking fast because he is on meds. I think he’s lacking in social skills as well.
January 16, 2011 at 1:32 am
“disabled veteran” is a specific term defined by the VA. We have not learned the details on this regarding Fuller.
Sometimes folks think that if a person has some form of disabling condition & who so happens to be a veteran; that it must mean the person got the condition while serving in military.
January 16, 2011 at 7:44 am
Possibly, but be prepared to never have that disability addressed if it is a mental health issue regardless of his veteran background. Someone with breast cancer can be disabled if they suffer from severe and debilitating pain. We will wait and see. Who knows, maybe it’s his heart?
January 15, 2011 at 8:12 pm
mcnorman…..he tried to visit Jerad’s mother and father at their home on Friday to “forgive them”….but then threatens a TP guy today??
http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2011/01/14/20110114giffords-shooting-victim-loughner-parents.html
January 15, 2011 at 8:13 pm
oops, I was posting at the same time as the poster above….he was “possibly” going to forgive jerad as well!
January 16, 2011 at 1:54 am
Right or wrong, Fuller is a firm unwavering Democrat to the bone – thru & thru. Fuller is probably trying to adjust his outrage to fit a person’s political leanings.
For instance, he probably thinks Jared is a democrat because he hears folks on right are bashing Jared more than folks on the left. Therefore Fuller back tracked his negative remarks on Jared by making up to his parents. I can assure you, if Jared was a republican, Fuller would NOT had made attempt to visit to his parents.
It would not had made any difference what Humphries said. Fuller was ready to fight him because Humphries is a republican.
January 16, 2011 at 7:54 am
Fuller is carrying some major rage. Who knows where it stems from? Obviously, he is very passionate about his stand. I believe that the msm is accountable for much of what this man believes. Jerod is a nut. I love it when the best friends all come out and say he didn’t watch politics, or listen to talk radio. Yet, we are still hearing blathering fools insist that Loughner was politically motivated by the likes of SP, Limbaugh, Beck, etc. It’s selective hearing. Not listening. Listening requires that someone actually listen and comprehend. Selective hearing is picking and choosing what will bolster one’s stance. This man sounds as if he uses selective hearing quite a bit. It doesn’t help that he probably is using pain meds for his injuries as well. I’ll give him that.
January 15, 2011 at 9:00 pm
I saw that imust. He’s a mess.
January 15, 2011 at 8:24 pm
Do you think a political circulator is someone who gets signatures on petitions? Kinda like a “community organizer”?
January 15, 2011 at 9:04 pm
Possibly. It’s such an odd title. Why not community organizer?
January 15, 2011 at 9:05 pm
Sounds like he doesn’t get paid on the books for that job.
January 15, 2011 at 9:30 pm
Who knows, he probably gets some sort of retirement pension.
January 16, 2011 at 2:00 am
Fuller fits the profile of someone who don’t do it for the money. He seeks out those position. He thinks he’s on a mission. Something has happened in his life to make him so fixated.
He would go as far as selling his earthly possession to pay for gas to do this sort of volunteer work.
January 15, 2011 at 9:12 pm
a political circulator is the person who asks people to sign petitions either in support of a candidate or a ballot measure.
this would be like collecting names for a 3rd party candidate or in support of a referendum to repeal a bill etc. the signatures have to be legally verified before they count (ie no Mickey Mouse, no post office box addresses).
January 15, 2011 at 9:13 pm
it can be a paid position or a volunteer position
January 15, 2011 at 9:14 pm
to clarify, an organization can pay the circulator, the pay doesn’t come from public money
January 15, 2011 at 9:31 pm
Thank you Nom. I suppose that was his mainstay.
January 15, 2011 at 10:51 pm
you would have thought Obama’s soothing words would have had an effect on him. Guess not.
January 16, 2011 at 2:14 am
Fuller has 1 track mind. Wasn’t listening Obama.
In some ways Fuller is more dangerous than Jared. Although I think they are both are uncurable. Somebody like Jared would shoot folks. Person like Fuller would fester & blow up the house or kidnap the wife & kids (hostages) …. Like a standoff.
January 16, 2011 at 9:08 am
agree, I think you have that exactly right
January 16, 2011 at 7:34 am
I guess that “walk on water” didn’t have any effect on Fuller, go figure?
January 15, 2011 at 10:56 pm
Interesting, the number of weirdos suddenly popping up in AZ, obama’s favorite (pardon my metaphor) “target” state. Gee, a critical observer might think that these incidents and loonies are made to order. Hmmm.
January 16, 2011 at 7:41 am
Mary, Tuscon is a city overrun by illegal aliens (yeah, I said it). There is a lot of wonderful in Tuscon, but they are on the “front lines” of the border war. This pep rally flavored the country with “oohs and ahhs” from the UA peanut gallery. There are many in AZ that are very disappointed with how the federal government has decided to handle their protection. In many ways, the border areas area have been neglected for so long that it forces everyone into doing things their way. I have several friends who live in Tuscon and the surrounding areas. Either they sit with the extreme right or extreme left. They are so fed up with nothing in the middle ever happening, that they truly have become very polarized. It only takes one nut to fall out of the tree.
January 16, 2011 at 2:21 am
Norm
I could be wrong, but I suspect Fuller is not “pensioned” vet. Perhaps social security.
On his website (which he’s unable to scrub cuz he locked down in pschy ward) he hinted that he might been discharged due to personality disorder or unsuitability. VA don’t compensate for that.
January 16, 2011 at 7:56 am
If it’s personality disorder, he will be monitored very closely. Someone in the family will leak it in the weeks to come if he is detained for too long.
January 16, 2011 at 2:35 am
And besides, he mentioned VERY little about his military training … Such as what the hell did he do in the service.
And another thing … I dont thing he has a girl friend or wife. No woman will put up w/him. He’s lonely. On his web page I noticed him posing w/a dog. But the pix was during his younger yrs. … So he may no longer have that anymore.
I saw posted comments of his friends at another blog. The married couple said they invite him to their house to eat on certain days of week & that he gets extremely argumentative & uncompromising on political matters.
January 16, 2011 at 7:58 am
No surprise if he is single by now. Who wants to always be arguing about everything under the sun? If politics pulls his strings, I would hate to see what happens when the simple things in life go awry.
January 16, 2011 at 8:20 am
I think that if this guy wants to be angry, he should be angry with Sheriff Dipwad who made it political. He should have the where with all to understand that the media has been less than honest. If he is okay, he will come to find that he has been manipulated by the msn when all of this is said and done. People, like that dipwad Krugman from the NYT should be fired. They are stating opinions and classifying them as fact. Ugh.
January 16, 2011 at 6:57 am
Mcnorman- just want you to know I pray for your safety every day. You are living on the front lines of a war. Can’t imagine what it would be like living down there. And no help from the Feds who seem bound and determined to hold on to power instead of protecting and defending our citizens.
Seriously- do you think that atmosphere is part of what is making people go off the edge?
January 16, 2011 at 8:08 am
PMM, the atmosphere has been charged slowly and for a very long time. In many ways, areas along the border would never have swelled to the population that they have without the help of the government. They tacitly sat back for decades allowing it. Look at CA. The cheap labor has always been desirable. As with everything in this world, there comes responsibility. We got what we wanted, but we also got more than we wanted. We assimilated a culture that demands colonization now. We allow a foreign entity to sue us now. This is PC.
I remember thirty years ago when I lived very close to the physical border. There was an incident a few blocks away that left me cold. A man was murdered by two very young thugs (Mexican nationals). A witness at a party across the street watched in horror. These less than human waste product were remanded back to Mexico. The man that they murdered was a parent watching his daughter’s home while she was attending to business out of town. They stabbed him over 100 times. They were there to take some jewelry. They should have been tried and executed. It’s a recurrent theme PMM. PC is going to be the death of this country.
January 16, 2011 at 10:15 am

The business community of NC has done the same here albeit on a smaller scale. No amount of public opposition has ever mattered (and as business rules here, there has not been the level of opposition that there should have been either).
January 16, 2011 at 12:42 pm
Nom, I think America has screwed itself royally when it comes to the illegal population. No one is going to win, not the education system, the healthcare system, nor the taxpayer. The irresponsibility has been great.
January 16, 2011 at 11:00 am
I’m finding the comments of arlenearmy very interesting on this thread, many thanks to her! I was chastised on another blog in the wake of the shooting for suggesting that Jared was schizophrenic. Candy Crowley of CNN did an excellent piece this morning on “The State of Mental Health” in this country, I was pleasantly surprised. The psychiatrists she interviewed were convinced that Jared was a textbook case. They spoke in depth on the need for a better system of mental health and that mental disorders should be considered no different than any other physical ailment such as diabetes etc. I couldn’t agree more. Real liberals would have begun this discussion, and perhaps even have tied it to the general health care debate rather than use the tragedy to score political points.

January 16, 2011 at 12:48 pm
Are you kidding me imust? You got chastised because you pointed the obvious? The walls are tumbling down around us (has been in the making for a long time), and we will be seeing more of this because the system cannot take care of it all. Could we have stopped Jared? Perhaps, his parents might have been able to do something long ago. No one could have stopped this because the system is already overloaded with the ones falling off the cliff. He had not exhibited any behavior to lead anyone to believe that he was ready to jump. Being capable of an action and implementing an action are two different things. Should his friends have been concerned? I think that they were.
January 16, 2011 at 2:25 pm
Good points. The psychiatrists on Crowley’s program made similar points. However, if they had recognized that he was ill at the onset (and there appears to have been signs), he could have been treated and been on medications that MAY have prevented him from getting to the violent stage.
January 16, 2011 at 2:29 pm
oh and yes, I was chastised. I think the poster was more interested in continue to push the “it was the fault of rw/tp/Palin” meme and I was getting in the way with my “he was mentally ill” point. Anyway, such is life on the blogs. I just think we need to make mental health care more of a priority in this country and remove the sigma so people can get help.
January 16, 2011 at 2:38 pm
Such is life on the blogs. LOL
January 16, 2011 at 2:50 pm
I’m watching a segment of Hoarders. How does it get this bad? A great example of mental illness. There was a time when (Depression Era) you never threw anything away, but now it is protect the crazy. I am absolutely disgusted with how this is all okay until the state comes into play. Too much interference from government imho. Families can’t do anything because the law protects them. It’s obscene. People living with vermin inside their homes because they refuse to throw away stuff. I just saw one woman who threw out her appliances, but decided that anything broken should be kept because it would make interesting art work someday. I see it all the time at estate sales. I wonder when the family was going to do something. So we have a dilemma, who is going to say something or do something first? Families used to take care of family business, but now they must wait until the government allows them to care for the individual. At some point, the switch malfunctions. How do we take care of these issues?
January 16, 2011 at 2:36 pm
The problem with that imust is that he is an adult now. He could have been going full monty, but it is very difficult to have someone taken in for mental illness. Add to that, who wants to become the target of his anger once he is free?
January 16, 2011 at 2:59 pm
It’s not about locking him up mcnorman, it’s about getting the medication and therapy he needs. The schizophrenia would have begun to manifest in late teens and although he was close to being a legal adult, he was still living under his parent’s roof. Its just too bad that they didn’t recognize or refused to recognize what appears to be the obvious signs of a treatable disorder. The intervention would have needed to be done early, as you say, the worse his condition, the harder to get him help.
January 16, 2011 at 3:11 pm
You can’t force someone to take their meds imust. I’ve seen it all too often. His parents either refused to do what they should have done for fear of his running away from home or they also have problems (dad’s supposedly got some personality disorders).
How many times do you hear, “my kid is just fine without drugs?” Hell, it’s hard to nurture a child without sacrificing a great deal. I never saw it as sacrifice, but as duty because I wanted to leave this place with a legacy that would do well.
My kid is fine without drugs is something that I used to hear often when I taught. I would agree that most of the kids could probably do without drugs, but they had no one to guide them and help them develop coping skills. We are a nation that has become too busy with our own business. Many rely on meds to take the edge off life because it is moving at breakneck speed. We didn’t have much when we grew up, but we were taught coping skills. We were also taught the difference between need and want. Our priorities have changed quite a bit.
January 16, 2011 at 3:14 pm
Tell me that Octomom would figure something like Jerod’s disorder out early on? She loves children like most people like kittens and puppies. Would she notice that one of her kids might be displaying a personality disorder? She is quite self absorbed imust. Do you think that she actually thought about what it would be like to raises these babies to adulthood? She is one mess herself. I heard that the house was in repossession now. It’s crazy.
January 16, 2011 at 4:00 pm
All true and good points, but we have to start somewhere and begin the conversation at least. It is difficult, but not impossible. Nothing will change if we don’t at least try.
January 16, 2011 at 5:42 pm
That’s right imust. We have to begin somewhere because we really have been remiss in our responsibilities. The truth is somewhere in the middle. I guess we are all searching for that middle ground imust.
January 16, 2011 at 3:03 pm
Also, regarding the hoarding….you’re right, it’s a mental illness. The problem is, I don’t think most people see it that way. Many just write the people off as just slobs at first….at least until it gets really really bad. Even then, I think there’s more disgust than an understanding of their sickness.
January 16, 2011 at 3:18 pm
I agree. Until they see the vermin moving into their homes, no one complains. We have to become more responsible for our neighbors. Mine are all elderly. I don’t know much about them, but I visit to make sure that they have what they need (heat, air, food). They have families, but they don’t bother the children. They are all okay. The most difficult lesson that I had growing up was our neighbor who was ill died because she was alone. She went into a diabetic coma and died at home.
January 16, 2011 at 3:58 pm
So sad! You’re a good person mcnorman.
January 16, 2011 at 5:33 pm
What did I do that is so unusual from what you do? I’m sure that you would do the same. Actually, I don’t think that there is anyone here who would turn a blind eye to anyone in need because we all moan and complain because this world is not what it could be. When we sit on a blog to discuss, we don’t necessarily agree on the cause or solution, but we are actually searching and listening for other possible answers.
January 16, 2011 at 9:27 pm
That’s what its all about isn’t it? We don’t turn a blind eye to someone in need. That should have been the meme this past week. The focus should have been on the courage and bravery of the victims of the shooting in Tucson. They did not act like victims, they acted like heros. One woman hit him with a chair, so another woman could knock the magazine out of his hand, so two other guys could tackle him and hold him to the ground….while several shielded loved ones, literally, with their own bodies taking bullets themselves. People rushed into the line of fire to assist and give CPR, and put pressure on gunshot wounds and hold the hands of the injured, often ignoring their own injuries. It shows the best of humanity will rise even in the face of the worst example of humanity and we should be focusing on that positive energy as we pray for those who are still recovering.
January 16, 2011 at 9:59 pm
It’s suppose to be like this, but somehow we all end up off the page. As times get harder imust, we will be working harder at working together.
