Sorry about the misspellings, etc. My computer has had some issues.
UPDATE:
Needless to say, the GAO report is out. Drumroll…massive bloat. I know, you already knew that.

So where do we either come up with or cut $1.3 trillion?
February 28, 2011 at 9:07 pm
Silly DE, that’s what a printing press is for.
February 28, 2011 at 9:07 pm
You see, DE. That’s the problem. People automatically believe this is THEIR problem when they see stuff like this. But it’s not our problem. The “problem” is really not a problem at all. It’s called slavery, and if you look at that $1.3 trillion as the price tag for enslaving 300 odd million souls, then if you’re representing the high-rollers out there it’s a small price to pay…
Heck, I can even do the math on my TI calculator to see how much I’m worth to the oligarchy, which is about 4,000 bucks…
February 28, 2011 at 9:24 pm
How much is that in yen?
February 28, 2011 at 9:35 pm
It comes out to about a half a Toyota. I’ll take the back seat. What about you?
March 1, 2011 at 12:50 am
You mean yuan. Look for Washington to be replaced with Mao on the dollar bill.
March 1, 2011 at 7:45 am
Yes rjjrdq. Sorry about the miss there. I am having some severe problems with the computer. Think it’s time for a reinstall.
March 1, 2011 at 5:50 am
I would love to see a budget pie that does not include SS- as SS should NOT be a budget item- it is supposed to be self funding- and the asswipes keep stealing OUR money to pay for their own pet projects.
March 1, 2011 at 6:46 am
Did someone mention PIE?
I agree PMM. If you notice on the revenue side vs the expense side, SS takes in more than it costs….unless I’m reading it wrong. Funny, I notice it shows the corporate revenue via tax, but it does not include the corporate welfare (bail outs, TARP, etc) on the “entitlement” side.
March 1, 2011 at 7:46 am
hahahahaha pie. Dying here imust.
March 1, 2011 at 7:55 am
PIE!!!!! See- that’s the trouble- the govt wants imaginary pie AND our pie!
March 1, 2011 at 8:32 am
I worked in accounting for the government at one time. They deal in a lot of imaginary numbers.
March 1, 2011 at 7:51 am
Agree, PMM
I’ve heard the most outrageous and insane explanations about how ‘Social Security and Medicare are eating us alive!”.
Excuse me, but haven’t I been paying for it my entire working life?
And aren’t the wars in the ME being funded by raiding the SS “lock box”? (what a f*cking joke….)
So, the reality is that the government is pissing away our money for many things that we (the people) didn’t and don’t condone, and most recently, by paying for a piece of shit healthcare bill whose only saving grace is to make this toy POTUS look good.
I could go on, but I think we’re on the same page.
March 1, 2011 at 7:56 am
As much as it sucks to be in so much back pain all the time- at least my SS disability was approved- so I am getting back SOME of what I paid in. For now at least…..
March 1, 2011 at 8:33 am
PMM, I know that you cannot work. I know that you are one of the worker bees. I will not stand for cuts in SS or Medicare.
March 1, 2011 at 8:31 am
Anthony, it’s outrageous that we will not control the easy things to correct. I see waste all the time. It is not in Medicare or SS. It is in how the government functions. When my funds are low, I turn the lights off. Not our government.
Federal Agency Headquarters Leave Lights On In DC.
I understand that the GAO is supposed to release a report today that indicates there is a ton of money being thrown to the wind. I think we already knew that.
March 1, 2011 at 9:41 am
don’t forget the tens of of billions on military contractor waste/ fraud/ abuse that the government’s own commission admits to:
not to mention that to which they don’t admitthat’s a lot of fucking bulbs.http://www.wartimecontracting.gov/docs/CWC_InterimReport2-lowres.pdf
March 1, 2011 at 9:49 am
btw at 6,000 employees of the Dept of Labor in Washington DC (nationwide there are 16,000) that is $116.666 per capita per month; essentially twice what it ought to be.
March 1, 2011 at 8:02 am
It looks pretty overwhelming, but it’s actually not that difficult to cut 1.3 trillion dollars. You need some leadership, so we’re screwed, but if we had any, you start by getting rid of waste, fraud, and stop purchasing 700 dollar toilet seats. There is also a lot of redundancy in our Gov that doesn’t need to be there, but people are clinging to those jobs so you have to support the private sector so those people have somewhere to go when you stop funding the office of cabbage regulations.
The Gov is also not getting as much revenue as they could be. You don’t increase revenue by raising taxes, you do it by supporting prosperity in the private sector. The more people are employed, the more successful businesses are, the more taxes everybody pays. That means more money going in to the government, which should be used to pay down the debt, but of course it never is, it usually just goes towards more spending.
March 1, 2011 at 8:34 am
I agree yttik. Read that comment that I left under Anthony. Lights for buildings at night for one month…The Department of Health and Human Services paid a bill last August of $799,000 for a month of service.
March 1, 2011 at 9:49 am
There is ALWAYS room for cleaning up waste.
March 1, 2011 at 8:32 am
The worst part of this pie is that it does not show the revenue that OUGHT to be there but is not.
Eliminate capital gains income period. Just fucking tax it at 100%. No, make it 200%. Fuck people who speculate on commodities like food, and play games with the lives of others through their hedge funds and derivatives, their fucking with every market from real estate to sea monkeys. Just FUCK THEM. Round up the oligarchs and their families and put them in a pen. On the moon. And if they play nice and admit where they’ve hid all
theOUR fucking money, send em a can of compressed air. Let em fight over it.March 1, 2011 at 8:36 am
Imaginary numbers means imaginary money. Let’s face it Nom. They play with credit cards and never see the bill.
March 1, 2011 at 9:31 am
well, and it’s an Imaginary Pie, a Lighter-than-Hot-Air Pie:
the pie uses for its defense wedge only the current approved military budget: this disregards all the add-ons to the military budget that the congress will approve throughout the upcoming year (just a few hundred billion or so) and also ignores all the previously incurred expenses such as veterans benefits that it also must pay; then it puts in the “entitlements” as though they are not already paid for, when of course they are.
If one wanted an accurate picture, immediately the monies given to SS must be discounted, the supplemental amounts that the military will get need to be added to the military wedge and also the debts that the military still owes must be added to the military wedge, and then the whole thing re-proportioned: it looks like this:

even better
March 1, 2011 at 11:37 am
I’m not against money spent for national security, if only it were used for national security instead of lining pockets like Chertoff and his pals. Minor details, but it ALL adds up.
There is a terrible imbalance in everything that the government touches.
March 1, 2011 at 1:34 pm
somehow, a military budget that is greater than that of the next 16 nations: China, Russia, UK, France, Japan, Germany, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, India, Brazil, Italy, Australia, Canada, Indonesia & the Netherlands combined (note that Iran, North Korea, Libya, and of course Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen & the Philippines are NONE included in the top 17), our budget seems a wee bit inflated.
just sayin.
March 1, 2011 at 1:48 pm
Nom, that is not the only portion of the pie that is inflated. We can adjust everything. There is a ton of waste.
