School’s food is the only option for some kids. How do you like that?
At his public school, Little Village Academy on Chicago’s West Side, students are not allowed to pack lunches from home. Unless they have a medical excuse, they must eat the food served in the cafeteria.
Principal Elsa Carmona said her intention is to protect students from their own unhealthful food choices.
“Nutrition wise, it is better for the children to eat at the school,” Carmona said. “It’s about the nutrition and the excellent quality food that they are able to serve (in the lunchroom). It’s milk versus a Coke. But with allergies and any medical issue, of course, we would make an exception.”
Is SEIU running the cafeterias? Michelle get her way finally? Starve the kids, and don’t let them bring their own lunches. Fill the union’s bank accounts, but don’t let Chunky get anything to eat from home. The government knows what’s best for him/her. That’s how she’s going to get them to drop all that weight.
Would you eat that?

it is just the bread part of the bread and circuses.
they force those who still have jobs to pay for the necessities of those whose jobs they have stolen: it prevents (or at least delays, and every delay is more money in the bank) the jobless from revolting and also makes those still employed focus their anger on those even worse off than they, rather than on their masters.
it works every time

I think prisoners get fed better food than that…it looks like something that dropped out of a dog. Where are the parents on this one?

Yes, I think the mystery food is very odd looking. I would not give any of it to my pets.

What is that slop? And what is in the clear plastic package? Paperclips and styrofoam?
Thank you Lord that all my children are grown. Thank you thank you thank you

It’s slop with flavor I think?

Accordin to O’Reilly, about 80% of the kids at the schoolnn question get free lunch anyway, which means no choice of enu, and the other 20%, instead of bringing a pb&j for $.25 will have to pay full price for the school lunch. Discrimination I Can Believe In.
btw, I used to teach in public school. The cafeteria food is disgusting–except for the smLL container of milk, all starch.

I taught at one public school where the cooking was so good that orders for the Christmas Sugar Cookies were made 8 weeks prior. They were certainly not the norm Mary. I can tell you that every kid paid full price if they didn’t get a discounted lunch card. Teachers as well. They had the same head cook for 30 years. Everyone and I mean everyone remembers her. lol

A rarity, McN. The stuff I saw being dished up, in various school dstricts and cities, was stricty slop on a shingle.

I know Mary. I cried when I left that school.

Do we want to take bets that moilsoc has a link through her Chi pals to the principal who banned sack lunches?

I’m sure that they had a hand in it. The whole “good” food lunch is her idea afterall.
