Rahm Emanuel spent $800K to fight residency challenge – Chicago Sun-Times.
Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel spent about $800,000 on legal fees to fight a residency challenge that attempted to knock him off the ballot in February’s mayoral election, campaign filings show.
Emanuel’s campaign raised a total of $14.5 million, including $2.6 million during the first three months of 2011, according to a quarterly report filed Friday with the Illinois State Board of Elections.
Of that amount, $12.5 million was spent, or just over $38 for each of the 326,331 votes Emanuel received on Feb. 22.
$38 a vote, huh? Unbelievable.

Typical slime ball behavior and I am sure he did not mind taking hard-earned money from (apparently ignorant) supporters.

wca,
My thought, too. Why step down from the House to Mayor? Governor to White House, or at least Veep, that’s why.

Trump gave him $50,000.

Trump’s agent is Ari Emanuel, Rahmbo’s brother.
It’ll be interesting to see oilsoc and Trump vying against one another. Who would Rahm support?
April 18, 2011 at 6:39 pm
I’m thinking the highest bidder.
April 18, 2011 at 6:54 pm
and that’s going cost more than $38 or $800,000.

To be fair, Hollywood does the same thing. http://www.politico.com/playbook/
A pair of tickets to that event will be more than what Donald dropped.

It’s just money afterall. snark

Looks like Trump got Rangle, McCain, & Lautenberg +/- for the price of Rahm.
ya’ll’s heads must have exploded when you saw how much he gave the Chicago weasel.
Also, I would not say that Trump’s willingness to give money to pos of any stripe is exactly a ringing endorsement for him.

I don’t think it’s chump change, but it certainly isn’t what Soros does.
April 19, 2011 at 10:44 am
heh. I’ve got a
bankruptcasino to sell you if you believe $50,000 is the Donald’s upper limit on donations. There’s no longer any limit on what these clowns can spend.
And in case you don’t know, Soros has been in business with Trump for years. In 2004 he supplied something like $100,000,000 for the Chicago Trump Towers shortfall..
There’s also this: http://www.bankinginsurancesecurities.com/aml_cft/US-excited-law-firm-accuses-Soros-and-Trump-of-money-laundering which may or may not amount to anything but does show that they are business partners.
