He probably didn’t have to walk 300 miles.
But it was certainly an ‘incredible journey’ for Mason, the plucky pup who crawled home on two broken legs after a tornado tossed him up and left him for dead.
The scrappy dog had been hiding in a garage in North Smithfield, Alabama, when the storm hit on April 27.
I’m glad he made it. I feel for the others left behind.
‘For an animal to go through what he’s gone through and not to be ugly, to be happy for any companionship is remarkable,’ Mr Doster told Wavy-TV. ‘We’re honoured to be part of his recovery,’ he added.
The shelter has been inundated with pets, mostly dogs and cats that have been lost in the storms.
Particularly those left to die on chains starved to death in Japan.

[...] Since this is supposed to be a time to reflect upon those who gave their life so that others may live, let’s not forget about the most loyal creature on Earth, dogs. And let’s think about the shitty way they often get treated, and how they still – despite all of the miserable bullshit they take – they still come crawling back, even if it is on two legs. [...]

I always find it absolutely amazing when a dog (or cat) finds it’s way home after something like this or being separated from it’s owner. We’ve all heard stories about pets who have been separated by hundreds of miles and they manage after a year or more to find their way back to their owner.
My cousin in KY had a dog that was so attached to him that whenever he would have to leave town for a long time and leave him with a friend, the dog would always find a way to escape and they would find him on his front porch. Once he went missing and my cousin couldn’t find him anywhere. When he put the word out to his friends, they found the dog sitting in his truck that was sent to the junk yard two weeks before. When he didn’t find his master at home, he looked for his truck. He said now they try to leave a shirt with his scent on it when he leaves town, hoping that will be enough to make his stay put!
