President Barack Obama’s health care law would let several million middle-class people get nearly free insurance meant for the poor, a twist government number crunchers say they discovered only after the complex bill was signed.

The change would affect early retirees: A married couple could have an annual income of about $64,000 and still get Medicaid, said officials who make long-range cost estimates for the Health and Human Services department.
After initially downplaying any concern, the Obama administration said late Tuesday it would look for a fix.
Up to 3 million more people could qualify for Medicaid in 2014 as a result of the anomaly. That’s because, in a major change from today, most of their Social Security benefits would no longer be counted as income for determining eligibility. It might be compared to allowing middle-class people to qualify for food stamps.

You can bet those cretins will read it now that it has been found that it actually hands somebody who worked and paid into Social Security a benefit. Oh, but if somebody works and pays into the system instead of the opposite, then sorry – they (we) have to keep on working. And then, chances are they’ll raise the retirement age anyway, so basically it’s all just a giant new welfare program, and they should just call it what it is – a handout in return for votes…

this is just more bs designed to trick middle class people into thinking this medical monstrosity might somehow benefit them personally so they’ll stop yapping.
In the first place the fucking bill doesn’t even begin to take effect for YEARS, so it can be altered in any way shape of form prior to that, or discarded entirely by another administration; it’s absolutely meaningless what it says now.
Secondly, No Insurance Company Left Behind may guarantee (for now) sh#tty insurance to the abjectly poor, but it doesn’t mean that the poor will be able to meet the minimum copays and deductibles in order to actually use it. Same with Medicare, Medicaid: you have to find some doctor who will take a patient using it. And that gets harder every fucking day. The whole point of the NICLB was to set a precedent that the government can force one to buy health insurance; that’s the part that is going to stay.
I know I’ll never see a bent nickel of all the money I’ve paid in these past 31 years of work to social security and medicare/medicaid; I’m not sure that being forced to purchase worthless insurance I won’t even be able to use doesn’t piss me off even more.

Best to stay away from doc’s offices and hospitals Nom. On the other hand, our Medicaid population (the ones that are always blaring their music out of their cars in the parking lot) seems to find money for the best cell phones, fancy wheel rims, lots of beer and other non essentials. I see that there is a lot of waste.
There are many in need of service, but they also must take into account that they are responsible for their health. I would never allow Medicaid to be taken from children, but I see the writing on the wall. Either we start taking care of ourselves or the government will let us die.
