Good for her! Maybe if there were more like her, there would be a stop to all these gang “flash mobs” coming into stores and taking whatever they want. There has also been a problem in Chicago with gangs of teens just rushing a person and beating them up for no reason, or beating them up and robbing them.

And I hate to say it, but in every single case of flash mobs (not the singing ones) and in this instance too…all black youths.

It all begins at home Nunly. My parents would have killed me first if I had ever taken something from anyone. This is a symptom of the entitlement mentality in this country. My mum remembers when I was around 5 and she took me to the opening of a new grocery store. We passed the Brach’s candy and I just stood there staring at the bins. The stocker told my mum that it was okay to for me to take a candy. She was horrified. She told the stocker that was not okay because I was a child and needed to understand that there was no gray zone when it came to taking something that I had not paid for. He agreed. Good thing that I wasn’t a sugar junkie. She said that I was completely mesmerized by the quantity of loose, colorful candy.

I agree, it does start at home. I feel equally appalled at the amount of property damage that I see in our area by teens who have nothing better to do than smash mail boxes and steal flower pots off the porches and smash them in the street. What do they gain by these actions? These are kids who were never taught to respect the property of others. If one of my kids ever did something like that, I would not only make them pay for the damage out of their own pockets, but I would make them work off the damage they did by doing yard work or a similar job for the homeowner as a way to apologize for the distress they caused.

It is called “dignity.” They have never learned the word or it’s meaning. You didn’t see the Japanese looting after the quake. Why, because they understand dignity. It is beneath them to trash, destroy or steal from another who is suffering.

Nunly, what they need are work camps such as the CCC in the last Great Depression.

A close friend of mine gave me advice that I have applied and greatly benefited from knowing.

She said when kids are teenagers you CAN NEVER WORK THEM HARD ENOUGH!!!!

So make them WORK WORK WORK!

Hard work will not kill them but this leisure-time, be-a-pimp no-good no-account bum lifestyle will knock decades off their life.

That’s a good point, mcnorman. Our society seem to accept or ignore this behavior whereas other cultures such as the Japanese would rarely react this way. There’s always a few bad apples in the barrel, but in the case of this country…the barrel itself is rotting away.

There is NO respect and an over-inflated sense of entitlement. It is disgusting to watch.

They don’t have any sense of self respect, how can we expect anything but rotten behavior from these jerks?

    Question:

Did anyone else ever notice this 2005 Season 1, Episode 17 of the tv series House that is clearly based upon U.S. Senator Obama?

It is all about a black politician who is planning on running for president of the United States, but he is hiding a serious illness from the public.

    “17 17 “Role Model” Peter O’Fallon Matt Witten 15.04[31] 11[31] April 12, 2005 (2005-04-12)

A popular U.S. senator (Joe Morton) and presidential candidate succumbs to illness at a fundraiser and Vogler assigns House to his case. He also tells House he can keep his whole team if he endorses Vogler’s pharmaceutical company. The Senator’s initial diagnosis seems to point to AIDS, but House digs deeper for another answer. Meanwhile, he also handles a case of a woman who apparently gets pregnant without having sex. Cameron visits House and tells him that she’s leaving her job.”

Missed that one, but you could be exactly right. Many stories on sitcoms have their basis in current events. Did the senator have an affair with a guy named Sinclair Lawrence (Larry Sinclair)? lol
