Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez revealed Thursday night that he is fighting cancer after having a tumor removed in Cuba, but assured his countrymen that he is doing well as he sought to cool growing questions about his health and ability to govern.
Chavez said in a televised talk that the operation took out a growth in which there were “cancerous cells.” The 56-year-old president said the surgery was done after an initial operation nearly three weeks ago for the removal of a pelvic abscess.
He called his situation “this new battle that life has placed before us.”

Chavez is only 56 years old and he has access to the best medical care in the world, chances are he will make a full recovery.
While I do not like Chavez (he is no environmentalist, he has not done enough to curb crime) he is the democratically elected president of Venezuela and he has cut the poverty rate in half during his tenure despite $20 million yearly of US (taxpayer) funded anti-Chavez propaganda, a US engineered coup, and a severe drought that has limited electrical production (the main source for the country is one hydroelectric dam). Venezuela paid all its debts to the IMF and the World Bank and Chavez kicked them out of Venezuela in 2007.
I would trade BHO for Chavez any day of the week. Chavez may have cancer; BHO is a cancer

Chavez will be around for a very long time, only the good die young. Case in point, Castro. Which doesn’t bode well for us….Obama is still young.

I think Hugo has already made his choice. I worry about chemo brain and what it may create.
