BARACK Obama’s long-lost “Uncle Omar” has been arrested for alleged drink-driving outside Boston and detained as an illegal immigrant, The Times can reveal.
The arrest ends a mystery over the fate of a relative that the US President wrote in his memoir had moved to America from Kenya in the 1960s, although the circumstances of his discovery may now prove to be an embarrassment for the White House.

Official records say Onyango Obama, 67, was picked up outside the Chicken Bone Saloon in Framingham, Massachusetts, at 7.10pm on August 24. Police say he nearly crashed his Mitsubishi 4×4 into a patrol car, and then insisted that the officer should have given way to him. A report filed with the Framingham District Court said that a breathalyser at the police station registered his blood alcohol at 0.14mg/100ml of blood, above the state limit of 0.08mg.
A driving while drunk charge? Fantastic. I lost five family members to a U.S. citizen that had multiple DUIs. I have little compassion for this criminal. I’m sure Michelle will have a few words with Barack over this.
According to a local newspaper, Mr Obama was charged with driving under the influence and driving to endanger, as well as failing to use a turn signal. He was detained as an illegal immigrant because the US Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement has an outstanding warrant for him because he was previously ordered to be deported to Kenya.

President Obama will end his vacation tonight, one day earlier than originally planned, White House officials said.
The president thought it would “be more prudent for him to be in Washinton, D.C., and at the White House,” deputy press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters.
The president made the decision to cut short his family vacation on Martha’s Vineyard shortly after addressing the nation about the impending danger of Hurricane Irene, which he said has the potential to be “historic.”
Obama is expected to arrive back at the White House on Friday evening. The family had been scheduled to return to Washington together tomorrow afternoon.

The National Park Service temporarily closed the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and the Old Post Office Tower as a precaution following Tuesday’s earthquake.
The cracking in the Monument was discovered during a secondary inspection. Structural engineers will evaluate the cracks Wednesday and determine how to repair them before the Monument is reopened.

The epicenter of the quake was near Mineral, Va., 35 miles from Richmond, Va., and 85 miles from the nation’s capital. The quake was 3.7 miles deep. The epicenter is very close to two Dominion Power nuclear power plants.
Update at 2:12 p.m. ET: The quake could be felt in McLean, Va., headquarters of USA TODAY. It caused the building to sway. Some items could be heard falling from shelves. A number of employees went left the building.
Update at 2:10 p.m. ET: NBC reports that the quake was centered nine miles from Mineral, Va., which is 100 miles south of Washington, D.C.
Says Doug Kammerer, meteorlogist with the NBC affiliate in Washington, calls the tremor a “very big earthquake for our area.”
The quake struck around 1:15 p.m. ET and lasted for about 30 to 45 seconds.
There have been no reports of injuries or widespread damage.
Update at 2p.m. ET: Reuters reports a 6.0 magnitude earthquake centered near Mineral, Va., rocked the mid-Atlantic states and was felt as far north at Manhattan and as far south as North Carolina.
Update at 1:57 p.m. ET:The Associated Press reports that the Pentagon is being evacuated.
