We have lost a lot of homes in one fell swoop.
Arson is suspected. Destruction and mayhem on purpose. I will never understand why someone would want to purposely do this. We haven’t seen rain in almost a month. Texas is firewood waiting to happen and it happened. Prayers for all.
I hear Barack wants to throw another $300 billion into the firewood in order to create more jobs. I won’t hold my breath because it will be the same as tossing the money into one of our wildfires.
Just a quick reminder of how deadly these fires are.

(Jay Janner AMERICAN-STATESMAN) Parts of a car melted in Bastrop's Circle D Estates neighborhood on Tuesday Sept. 6, 2011.

(Ralph Barrera AMERICAN-STATESMAN) The Bastrop County Animal Shelter was busy rescuing stray animals from the various fires around the county taking them into their shelter for treatment and hopefully to be reunited with their proper owners. Animal Control Officer Patti Hilliard baths this young black cat who was rescued while clinging to a burning tree earlier today. She was astounded that the cat was in good health and spirits as it purred after the cleaning.
We have never seen anything like this in my lifetime.

Praying for all of you- and all the southwest. I feel so guilty when I grumble about all the rain and cold weather here. I should be counting my blessings!
Be safe!

As difficult as this is PMM, we are never given more than we can bear.

Talking to ALL the gods on your behalf, McNorman.
Hang in there – love to you and yours

Thank you Anthony. The winds are not as bad today and the weather is turning a bit cooler.

I’m so sorry. It is astounding that we are so powerless over this and other types of catastrophes. That someone intentionally started this blaze is even worse, given the heat and lack of rain you all have experienced this summer.

We’ll all get through each trial and tribulation. It just saddens me greatly that someone would do this on purpose Leslie.

Smoky the Miracle Cat! Blessings, little one.

These two photographers took a ton of pictures. So many dead animals that burned alive. It’s just a nightmare. I’m glad this kitty survived.

I know; it’s a horrible death. If it’s any easier to bear, I’m guessing that most die of smoke inhalation rather than burning.
September 8, 2011 at 6:41 pm
I saw an interview with a man who could not run fast enough. Second degree burns on his arms, face and legs. We would hope that smoke inhalation takes one before the fire does.

Poor little kitty does not looks like s/he likes a bath!
Hard to imagine any of the fires could be arson; it’s beyond understanding how anyone could deliberately set a fire. Stay safe mcnorman!

Safe today. I am so sad Nom. It ills me to know that someone would get their jollies by doing something so cruel.
September 8, 2011 at 11:03 pm
Wish we could send you some of our monsoon like rain. At least its just Mother Earth reminding us of natures power and not some soulless being getting kicks out of others misery.
Take care (and don’t let ay more doors catch you off guard!).
September 9, 2011 at 10:25 am
Oh boy do I wish we could get some rain down here. Unfortunately, when it rains it does pour and that is our problem. We will have a season of very green, and then a drought which creates the conditions that are ripe for fire.
I replaced that bad door. lol
