October 2011

It’s updated and it’s getting uglier by the day.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than 28 million people currently unemployed — that’s including those involuntarily working part-time and those who want a job, but have given up on trying to find one. In the face of the worst economic upheaval since the Great Depression, millions of Americans are hurting. “The Decline: The Geography of a Recession,” as created by labor writer LaToya Egwuekwe, serves as a vivid representation of just how much. Watch the deteriorating transformation of the U.S. economy from January 2007 — approximately one year before the start of the recession — to the most recent unemployment data available today.

It’s about time.  The treat is no cash.

The United States will not pay $60 million to a U.N. cultural and educational agency after it voted Monday to accept the Palestinian mission as a full member, triggering a U.S. requirement to cut off funds.

The U.S. funds about 22 percent of UNESCO’s budget, or roughly $80 million annually. Nuland said the $60 million was scheduled to be sent in November.

Halloween 2011: Spooky 3-D garage door covers by Thomas Sassenbach.

A cellar filled with wine.   Yes, much better.

One of the sisters reportedly said that the First Lady’s clothes were selected to ‘keep voters on a budget’, according to the source.

‘They charge Michelle is ‘two-faced’, that she really worships the kind of life they lead and ‘takes every vacation she can’.’

Meechelle is two faced?  Who would possibly think that?  I find the fashionista sisters to be a bit overkill on celebrity status.   For crying outloud, I’ve never been able to understand why these women are considered celebs of any sort?  Perhaps it is because I live out in the sticks that I just can’t imagine raising young girls to behave like these young women?

As for Meechelle, well her style is quite the uber ick chic.  I resent having to pay so many stylists to dress her in clown mode as a representative of the American woman.  I know that she likes it, but does she not realize that she dresses the Barnum part all too often?  Surely, there are mirrors in the White House?  Oh, I know what you are going to say…they were broken the first day she stepped in front of them, right?

A White House source told the National Enquirer that the show is ‘no example’ for young women and ‘teaches the wrong message’.

Uhm, “the message” of the moment that the WH has sent to the rest of us is one that is opaque and only becomes suitably transparent when necessary to garner votes on any issue of the moment (doesn’t have a darned thing to do with the K sistas).  Let’s see now, how many creepy people have been wined and dined at the WH?  Far too many to list.  Cut the bullcrap Barack and Meechelle, you two have no scruples.  We do have hope for the young girls who will eventually chose their own paths.

Via Obama admits he’s never seen the Kardashians, despite banning daughters from watching.   Who cares?  Obviously, I am not alone in thinking that this is an idiotic distraction.

Uppity Woman posted this video in the comment section of “Gimme Free or I’m Gonna Die.”  No, that is not the title of lorac’s post…it is “We Demand Free Stuff NOW!!!

Then there is “Sponsor A Protester”  ((h/t Brenda) which really should become a YouTube video to counter the Sponsor An Executive video.

Two extremes.

My grandma always told me that we come into the world naked and that’s pretty much the way that you exit. The air that we breathe is about the only “free” thing that anyone gets in life.
