About that southern border…
Five men of foreign descent were taken into custody early Wednesday morning after a break-in at the Bexar County Courthouse. Two of the men are on the FBI’s watch list, officials said.
Bexar County sheriff’s officials responded to a burglary alarm at 1 a.m. and found two men walking outside the building, sheriff’s officials said.
The men were arrested after sheriff’s officials determined they broke into the building through a door on the fourth floor, sheriff’s officials said. Three men were located inside the building and two were found outside near a recreational video.
Surveillance video showed the men walking into the building with an item in their hands, but they did not have the item when they walked out of the courthouse, sheriff’s officials said. Investigators have not said whether that item was recovered or what it may be.
Sheriff’s officials apprehended a third man who was inside a recreational vehicle in the parking lot of the building. The RV contained several documents and proof the men had been traveling across the country for some time, sheriff’s officials said.
The men told authorities they broke into the courthouse to get a scenic view of San Antonio, but investigators said the circumstances surrounding the break-in are suspicious.
Investigators said the men, all in their early 20s, are not U.S. citizens and told investigators they came into the country on Sept. 11, but it wasn’t clear what year they entered the country. Investigators also determined two of the three men are on the FBI’s watch list. Their names have not been released.
As of 7 a.m., the men had been charged with burglary, but sheriff’s officials said they would be interrogated by the FBI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Joint Terrorist Task Force.
Authorities swept through the courthouse to look for explosives but nothing was found.
Sheriff’s officials said the courthouse will open at its normal hour on Wednesday.
In another development, the San Antonio Police Department Bomb Squad conducted a brief sweep of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center at 5:30 a.m., where a Geospatial Intelligence Convention is taking place. Up to 3,000 people of U.S. and foreign intelligence agencies are attending the event.
via 5 Arrested In Break-In At Bexar County Courthouse. A terror link? I think some waterboarding is in order.

The whole thing is pretty weird. I certainly don’t buy the scenic view story; but neither do I buy a bomb plot. I’d guess someone hired them, but who and why? Does the courthouse contain any records? Does it include a jail? One could use a lot more information before drawing a conclusion.
Btw that newspaper sure could use a copy editor: I think they meant recreational vehicle not recreational video!

I think you are about to witness a lot of scrubbing in the next few hours.

I think they wrote that as fast as they could. Not a lot is being offered Nom. Glad they were caught. Yes, there are all types of information hard copy and electronic in the courthouses. They had no business being inside the building.

Fast and Furious documentation perhaps?

I highly doubt that was the intent. lol

He sounds like a nut, or perhaps he had been drinking?
I might lose it myself on a really long flight with one of those clowns who leans their chair back on top of one.

I thought I heard on the radio that they were looking for or had on them papers about the water infrastructure.
October 19, 2011 at 1:44 pm
I heard that on the news as well. Really creepy.
October 19, 2011 at 2:02 pm
That is interesting but it makes no sense: there are literally thousands of miles of unsecured water pipelines all over the state: anyone could sabotage them that wanted to. And it would not necessitate going into the courthouse.
October 19, 2011 at 4:44 pm
It was the reservoirs, water treatment facilities, you know the stuff that would make a big difference.
October 19, 2011 at 6:39 pm
But why are they in the courthouse: how does that link up with a plot to destroy infrastructure? I do not believe there was a plot to destroy infrastructure, I think that part is a fabrication to deflect from the courthouse. They weren’t in the courthouse for no reason.

I really question the label of drink-inspired prank here. I wish they would show copies of their photographs.

Told ya the story was going to change quite a bit. I haven’t heard much since the AM news.

If they’re after the water security system, what are the chances that they’re Muslims?
Oh, well, Janet has told me over and over how safe our borders are.

The only border Janet patrols is Taco Bell.

She doesn’t carry enough melanin in her. Interesting. Both creeps should go. I propose that all of them be camped at the southern border sans security systems. Okay, a few cctv cams going just to make sure that they don’t run away.
October 28, 2011 at 6:13 pm
Put them on the other side with the clothes on their back and a shovel. See if they can tunnel back to safety in time.
October 28, 2011 at 9:02 pm
That is a fabulous plan Nom.
