November 2011

Holiday Mail for Heroes.   Everyone serving should receive something that tells them they are not gone or forgotten.  It might sound hokey, but I believe that we are all worthy of a thought.

Holiday Mail For Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456

Card Guidelines:
Every card received will be screened for hazardous materials by Pitney Bowes and then reviewed by Red Cross volunteers working around the country.
Please observe the following guidelines to ensure a quick reviewing process:

  • All cards being sent in for 2011 Holiday Mail For Heroes program should be postmarked no later than Friday, December 9, 2011.
  • Ensure that all cards are signed.
  • Use generic salutations such as “Dear Service Member.” Cards addressed to specific individuals can not be delivered through this program.
  • Only cards are being accepted. Do not send letters.
  • Do not include email or home addresses on the cards, as the program is not meant to foster pen pal relationships.
  • Do not include inserts of any kind, including photos, as these items will be removed during the reviewing process.
  • We encourage participants to mail as many cards as they are comfortable sending. If you are mailing a large quantity, please bundle the cards and place them in large mailing envelopes or use a flat rate box from the post office. Each card does not need its own envelope, as cards will be removed from all envelopes before distribution.
  • Please refrain from sending holiday cards with glitter. Many of these cards will be delivered to military and veterans medical facilities and the glitter could interfere with a patient’s recovery.

I try to live in the moment.   For many service men and women there is no one to share a thought with during the holidays, and that must be painful.  What’s a couple of generic cards gonna cost to send?   Just do it.

Unlike Mittens (the guy running for that last six years), this guy just doesn’t have the bright, shiny, slicker, snake oil salesman pitch. We already know what happens when we buy the slick and polished guy.

In a word, yes.  They already do.  Many primary care physicians utilize nurse practitioners or physician assistants already.  I’m not saying that there isn’t a need for the sniffles attendant, school physical, etc., but these quickie healthcare marts are a recipe for disaster.   Wal-Mart Plans to Enter Health Care Market.

“We have a massive primary-care problem that will be made worse by health reform,” says Ian Morrison, a Menlo Park, Calif-based health-care consultant. “Anyone who has a plausible idea on how to solve this should be allowed to play.”

Really Mr. Morrison?  We have all known that ObamaCrapCare will mean further rationing.  I don’t believe that this is a solution to help any patient.

In-store medical clinics, such as those offered by Wal-Mart and other retailers, could also be players in another effort in the health law: encouraging collaborations of doctors and hospitals who want to win financial rewards for streamlining care and lowering costs. Such collaborations, known as “accountable care organizations,” might contract with in-store medical clinics, says Paul Howard, a senior fellow with the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research. He has studied retail clinics, some of which have recently expanded to offer services beyond simple tests and vaccinations, such as helping monitor patients with diabetes or high blood pressure.

Accountable care organizations?  Now that is a scary term.  These groups are chosen based on tying provider reimbursements to quality metrics.  “Quality metrics” is another very ugly term.   How are these providers chosen?  What criteria is used?  I’ll tell you…the cheapest guy in town.  Quality?  What does that mean?  Has anyone ever questioned how these “preferred” docs and facilities are chosen?

“Maybe Wal-Mart can deliver a lot of this stuff more cheaply because it is an expert at doing this with other types of widgets, but health care is not a widget and managing individual human beings is not nearly as simple as selling commercial products to consumers,” says Ann O’Malley, a physician and senior health researcher at the Center for Studying Health System Change, a nonpartisan Washington think tank.

Thank you for stating the obvious.  Who wins in all of this muckety muck?  The insurance company’s stockholder.  Who loses?  The human in need.

US drivers owe Ciudad Juarez $10 million in fines.  STOP laughing, they are serious.

Miguel Angel Rodriguez had just parked his car when a Ciudad Juarez traffic officer wrote him a ticket and then unscrewed one of his license plates.

The truck driver from El Paso, Texas, argued with the officer, but soon gave up. That didn’t mean he was going to pay the 165 peso ($12.50) fine.

He is one of thousands of people with U.S. cars who find it quicker and easier to just replace the plates or driving licenses that Juarez police routinely confiscate to guarantee payment.

U.S.-plated cars are common on Juarez’s streets due to cross-border commuters, not to mention locals who buy cars or pickups across the border because they are cheaper.

The city says it is owed about $10 million in fines on tens of thousands of unpaid traffic citations against U.S. drivers or vehicles. More than 74,000 seized U.S. plates and drivers’ licenses sit in Juarez city government warehouses and most will never be retrieved.

So, the city across the border now owes Mexico $10 million.    I call bollocks.   When is Mexico going to repay the US for delivering all of their anchor babies?

Octomom Nadya Suleman says she ‘hates’ her children, contemplates suicide: ‘They disgust me’ .  Woot!  Parent?  Not.

Though she insists she still has love for her children, Suleman looks back on the decisions she’s made and says she wishes she never got pregnant in the first place.

“Obviously I love them – but I absolutely wish I had not had them,” she says.

Idiot?  Absolutely.

Feeling overwhelmed by the burdens of caring for a large family, Suleman not only says she wishes she never had them, but admits to have contemplated suicide.

“I hate the babies, they disgust me,” the 36-year-old single mother told the magazine.

She also unleashes some vile words for her older children.

“My older six are animals,” she says, “[They are] getting more and more out of control, because I have no time to properly discipline them.”

Jackass, children are not disposable.   The merit nothing less than self sacrifice.  I hope that IVF physician is happy with his hand in this creation.  I’m sure that the kids will just love reading these articles when they are old enough to ask her questions about her statements.

UPDATE 2He still doesn’t believe that he did anything wrong.

The Texas Supreme Court suspended a judge Tuesday whose beating of his then-teenage daughter in 2004 was viewed millions of times on the Internet.

Aransas County court-at-law Judge William Adams was suspended immediately with pay pending the outcome of the inquiry started earlier this month by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, according to an order signed Tuesday by the clerk of the state’s highest court.

UPDATE:  Imusthavepie provided the link.  It provided a statement to absolve himself of any wrongdoing.

If this guy really is a family court judge, I can say that it is over for him.   Confirmed on that link…the turd is Judge Adams.

‘Family law judge’ brutally beats 16-year-old disabled daughter with belt for playing computer games.  He can always apply for judgeship in a Sharia law controlled country, right?

In total the girl receives 20 hard lashes from her father and one from her mother.

She screams: You turn over like a 16-year-old and take it like a grown woman.’

Identity: It is claimed the man in the video is Aransas County court judge William Adams

As she lies crying on her bed he shouts: ‘Do you want to put some more computer games on?

‘Are you happy disobeying your parents?

‘If I hear so much as you raising your f***ing voice to me or your mother with the wrong tone or do one little thing or you look at me f***ing wrong, I’m going to wear your f***ing a** out with this belt.’

Although it has not been confirmed that the man shown is Judge Adams, several people have posted comments below the video claiming it is definitely him.

One post from a J. Andre Bardin, who claims to be one of Hillary’s friends, reads: ‘I know in the article you say you cannot confirm the man in the video is him, but I can. It’s him.

‘That’s his voice, that’s his mannerisms, and that is his house.’

The woman, thought to be judge Adam’s wife, who is seen in the video delivering a single blow to her daughter, is said to have left the marriage after suffering emotional abuse.

She has apparently apologised for taking part in the beating and allowing it to happen.

Wonder what his constituents think now?  Has this assclown never heard of  The Burning Bed?  If there is a very special place for this sob in Hell, I’m sure he will have it reserved for beating his disabled child and spouse.  I don’t care if this guy is a judge or not.  He should be held accountable for his deplorable behavior.  His daughter says that she is sorry that she posted the video, but it is a plea for help.

Hillary, the gifted pianist.

I weep at the thought of an adult hurting such a beautiful child.

My journey through the world of piano, from a child to an adult. It’s pretty cheesy in a couple parts but hey, it won a $1500 scholarship from Ivysport! Thank you to my mother for being with me every step of the way, and helping me overcome the cards I was dealt.

Hillary Adams will move on to bigger and better things in life.
