Not much has changed since I was in public education. Granted, they are not all like that. Then again, it only takes one of them to pull the lever for the brightest, shiniest object on the ballot.

Time to go back to the one-room school house where the parents hire and fire the teachers and there is zero administration. Now you have a top-heavy administration where multiple members are drawing 6-figure salaies.

And let’s not forget the teachers’ unions, who keep the education level in the sub-basement by defending semi-literate classroom incompetents against being fired..

Alongside the Dept of Education. What an absolute waste of money.

Starting point should be to obliterate Carter’s Department of Education.

Yes, Ma’am!

OK, I just asked little somebody all of these questions. She’s 12 years old and home schooled. She missed one question; she didn’t know the Vice President………don’t we all wish we didn’t know either, LOL!
After I asked her all of the questions then I let her watch the video, she couldn’t believe the high school students couldn’t answer those questions. She was caught unaware by the questions too and thought that disclaimer at the end was stupid.
BTW I’ll bet you a hundred dollars she will forever more know the name of the Vice President, LOL!!

What? Little Somebody didn’t know jojo? Send that girl to the head of the class! (Actually, being home-schooled, she’s waaay ahead of her age peers. Take it from this retired teacher.)

Thanks Mary and sometimes I know that, but other times I worry. It’s quite a responsibility to home school, one that I take seriously.
I must admit my favorite subject to teach is history–geography–social studies. It also happens to be little somebody’s favorite subject. She says it’s her favorite because she enjoys it when I go off on rants or we dig deeply into subjects, LOL! I must say I’ve learned so much through teaching her. I take very little at face value and do my research so that I’m well versed……..oh but Mary, there is SOOOOO much to know. Hence why at times I feel so inadequate as her teacher.

You are going to be far better than what your daughter will have in school. It is not just the teacher, the school, the books, but the entire kaboodle Somebody. No one said that you have to impart the wisdom of Einstein, just the just the joy of learning Somebody. We can’t be there forever, but the skills that they acquire are for life. That is what kills me about public schools. The attitude is that someone will take care of these kids from cradle to grave because they do not have life skills. Instead, they are taught that life is all about self esteem. It’s criminal that high school students are barely reading at middle school levels.

Somebody,
True, there’s nothng like teaching smething to learn it. Untrue that you’re not up to it.
1. Your ideas spark my thinking here and at our other blogs.

this goes for you and yours, too.

The sad thing is that they do learn these things, but the fun stuff takes precedent over the important things.

And you know what? Each of those little morons has the same vote we do.
February 4, 2012 at 9:16 am
Yes Mary, they do. They will also have the decision making over what to do with the older population later in life.
February 4, 2012 at 6:27 pm
Well, McN, karma will get them when they’re the cut-off, dependent, unwanted seniors. And we all know what a bitch karma can be.

Problem is that this is the group that will be working the retirement and senior citizen homes. Will they be able to read when it is time to medicate?
February 4, 2012 at 7:45 pm
Funny yet sad. I don’t imagine I will ever get to retire. At least my generation was just obstinate and contrary (not stupid).
February 6, 2012 at 10:12 am
I don’t think that retirement is in my life’s vocabulary Sophie.
So very true.
