The Russian took a terrible tumble. His ski snapped. A Canadian coach ran up and gave him his. He also helped him by putting it on.
Wadsworth explained why he ran onto the course in an interview with the Toronto Star:
“It was like watching an animal stuck in a trap. You can’t just sit there and do nothing about it. … I wanted him to have dignity as he crossed the finish line.”
Sadly, Arthur J. Hubbard Sr.; first Native American State Senator and WWII Navajo Code Talker passed away on February 7, 2014. He was 102. Thank you to people like Arthur and this coach. Humans can be wonderful.
