When I lived in eastern Virginia, the landing patterns for the Norfolk airport took planes directly over the adjacent interstate (I 64). They were so low you thought if you reached out the window you would touch the plane.
Regan National planes come in right over the Potomac River (and multiple bridges) and interstate 395.
I have to tell you that I freaked when I saw one land and rip through the fencing, cross the intersection and hit the railroad tracks. It was phenomenal, just like the movies. Of course in that moment, no one thinks about the humans on board. BTW, no one died on that landing. Miracles do happen.
