My dad worked for a company that was bought out by Carrier and then UT. UT improved their pay and benefits across the board union and non-union and people liked working for them. So not just jobs lost – but jobs for what was an all round good employer and very good to the community.
I wonder how much pressure there has been to move things to Mexico and how much of our souls O is selling to Cuba.
These are not jobs that can be easily replaced and it will most likely destroy the local economy.
This was one of the last built in America we stand by our products for home and industrial air conditioning.
I have to wonder about the move. Monterrey is well known for kidnapping the administrative people from companies like this. What the Pope told the business owners was fair game. They are responsible in part for so much of what happens in Mexico as the corruption has no end. We have had this country’s soul sold for very little Mt. Laurel.
I had friends who worked for Delphi SA many years ago. The writing was on the wall back then. They all left after the company had them take courses in kidnap/hostage evasion.
Juarez looked like a different city than from what I remember. Sadly, the Pope truly did not witness the horrific poverty that Juarez is today. We can’t let him see what Nieto and his gang of corruption has done to the country, can we? This is the new image that they wanted to send out. Guess what, the corruption of the Mexican government has only gotten stronger…not as strong as the cartels though. It matters not, the cartels crossed the borders a long time ago. They are already here doing business with out corrupt leaders.
